DayZ regional release?

Recommended Posts

What does everybody think?

Are Americans fine with getting it last if it means they can actually play it?

Are New Zealand Pacifica fine with getting it first :D I sure am.

DayZ might need it in all honesty, even though the servers will be all over the world I'm now thinking.

They'll definitely need to pull together to help out when it gets a US release.

Its not gonna be a regional release.. And if they do decide to do so im sure ALOT of people are going to be pretty pissed off. Even if it was USA only release I would be pissed because I have a good friend that I can not play without in UK

Why not?

1   It's inconvenient for "Team players" and the like

2   Availability of public servers for different regions in considerable numbers (think it; there's 3 servers for Seattle alone, at the minimum) doesn't necessitate regional release to reduce server resource stress

3   No matter where it gets released to first, there's going to be a bunch of pissed people without good cause

4   Unfair advantage for players in the first-release regions against second, third, or fourth waves.

Think about it; most titles/hardware that releases "regionally" has weeks if not months between moving to a new region. If, say, the game got released to the Cz Republic, Russia, and Finland (for argument's sake), then a week later the UK, Ireland, et cetera west european countries, then a week later the rest of the European countries/Asia, and then a week later USA/Canada/western hemisphere, the west is going to be 3+ weeks behind everyone else. And there's two problems with that:

  • Unfair advantage aforementioned
  • The first wave is going to buy the game in gluttony, sign in, and start finding bugs. The second wave is going to be a more static, hesitant sales source as they wait to see how the game pans out. Finally the third wave, after a month of watching the game on Youtube, grows bored with the idea in its entirety and sales become a slow, trickling process.

So no.

I hope not. I hope they do a steam pre-load though.

The Russians will crack/repack it before the game is actually released.

Too many people in different countries play DayZ. Dean would do his newly developed game a HUGE disservice by making a regional release.

I really don't see WHY they would do this. There's no reason behind it.

It's going to be released on steam to make updates nice and smooth ad easy for them to send them out their is just going to be a full alpha release it's not cod or battlefield and its not Microsoft who gets dlc packs first, I don't think their will be a release date it will just be click and its up on steam for sale then people will find out within the hour and bang severs will be full

I, for one would love it. theres nothing more fun than waiting till midnight, and not sleeping for the next day so you can play the game. Funnest expieriences with games I've ever had,
get some energy drinks and nerd out.
