So how many NVGS...

In total, over my career of the public-hive, I found about 293 if I recall correctly...FN FALs. Yes.

 

Anyway, I found a few NVGs. Only one pair of Rangefinders and a few GPS'.

I believe I've found 2-3 personally.. Although the squad I run with is all equipped with them and we have 4 in our Ural. And yes, it's all legit. Not sure if the 4 in the Ural were picked up off bandits or found on crash sites/barracks. The server I play on (US264) is 100% vanilla, and as such, only 4 helicopters spawn on the server. We currently possess all 4 of them, so we like to log on right after restart and go flying around checking all the fresh chopper crashes. I also play at night time during low-pop hours, so it's easy for me to raid NWAF and Chopper crashes.

You hacking?  How come you've found that many and I've never found one?

 

Has something changed in the last few months because I haven't played recently but before I stopped playing I played for a scary amount of time and never found one, ever.  I always had one on me but that's just because I steal them from other peoples camps.

Nope. Stealing, and helicopter crashes. 4+ at 23 in a row. Ridiculous. I think I made a topic about it last year.

Hmmmm.  Yeh I get the stealing part because I never had any trouble finding MVG's but it was never at a spawn point.

Only ever found the one set. In the very same barracks was a set of range finders. Jackpot. Then I got nailed with a DMR as I was leaving the airfield :(

If you count going back to the linked hive cluster days NVGs were on the heli crashes 5% of the time but you could always find them at the server hoppers camps :}

 

I found several sets on helis while playing on quiet servers early weekend  am times when servers would reset and very limited player counts. Last version of vanilla I played you still logged in with a mack so no clue on todays builds.

A couple times. Never found the SVD on the public hive. Ina a year I found the M136, M4A1 Holo, but never an SVD

I've stolen them from camps a few times and only once found a legit pair at a heli crash site. I decided to do the right thing and burry my stolen NVG's, which were most likley duped, on the body of a zombie. The moment I turned around to pick up my pair of legit and proper

NVG's the server crashed. After expressing myself I turned of my PC and stop playing for a week.

Oh, the SVD Camo is the new FN FAL. I remember the FAL being at every single choppercrash and atleast 2 or 3 times. While the SVD Camo was 0.1% at the barracks. In 1.7.6.1 (I think it was?) that changed and the SVD Camo is all over the place and FAL is the rarest weapon in game ;-)

Never found a legit pair of NVGs.. Only ever got one.. and it was a mod box at a gas station..

In Vanilla DayZ? 

NVGs: 0 (personally, my friend found a pair, never realized how rare they were until he died and couldn't get back to his corpse and told us what gear he lost. We went, "You HAD WHAT!?! Why were you carrying that on a loot run in Stary in the middle of the day with no backpack and only a hatchet and pistol for weapons!?!")

Range Finders: 5-8

GPS: 10+ several at Helicopter crashes.

From the start of vanilla DayZ to date:

 

NVG - 3 pairs from crash sites

 

GPS - 2 from red brick houses, 1 from church, 1 from Stary Sobor military tents.

 

Rangefinder - 1 from supermarket, 1 from barracks.

 

The rest of mine have rarely come from corpses and more often freely donated by other players.

 

We found that map hackers were specifically raiding tents with these items in, especially rangefinders.  We tested out the theory at the great expense of some bait items.  They went straight for the RF, GPS and NVG, ignoring all other tents with loot, including exotic guns and antibiotics.  This was in 1.8 with the tents placed in crazy places on opposite sides of the map.   All of them were raided in one evening.

 

In our case it was likely the same twerps who fell for the Lonely Island helicopter trap, as they were banned and curiously enough, no more precision raiding has happened since.

I have found exactly 0.  Same with GPS, same with Rangefinders.  The only ones I've ever found were either off dead players, from a tent or vehicle, or on a non-vanilla server.

 

In fact, the DMR I'm currently equipped with is the first one I've ever found on a vanilla server, out in the wild, spawned on the ground.

Iv found enough NVG while iv been playing. But I remember times when I have hunted for weeks....eventualy found some....then my friends come join me on the server. I say something like "jus gonna stash my NVG at camp till later"....they reply "its cool man we got like 3 spare sets at our tents"....in 2 days!?!?

 

Rangefinders....hah! maybe 1 actual find in my whole dayz playtime. The rest have been given to me or taken from bodies.

I found probably around 3/4 at crashes, and one in a barrack in the old days. 

Range finders and GPS I found one of. Rangies in a barrack, and the GPS in a hangar at balota.

I never found a legit pair of rangefinders, ever. Managed a bunch of GPS finders in mainly from the airfield towers for some reason. Never found a legit L85 thingy either. First time i ever got the unholy trinity..nvgs + upsize combo - NVG's, rangefinders and gps + as50 and L85 was a tent stashed in the scrub in between Bere and Krasno after i got chased by a bunch of wookies. Dumped the AS50 because..i just don't fecking like it. 

 

 Can't wait for the SA and its promised minimal military loot..gonna be awesome.
