NagsterTheGangster 388 Posted October 17, 2013 That's because hype = sales. Controversies don't create sales.Yes it does. Ever hear the phrase, "any publicity is good publicity?" its been shown time and time again that controversies sell, especially in North America.

callsignBravo (DayZ) 323 Posted October 17, 2013 Just to make you understand, this type of gore would create quite a scene with the public and a whole lot of controversy would come about. This includes games like: Mortal Kombat, Doom, Grand Theft Auto and Manhunt. This would create a scene for the Standalone and the media would give it a bad impression.yeah but there is no need for an animation for this no dripping blood just a headless body and a head.

bibbish 49 Posted October 20, 2013 If they shouldn't be playing it, then it's not the dev's problem. At all. It's DayZ, cutting off a player's head would be something amusing/irritating. It's not like people would be watching a snuff film... That being said I'm not sure the idea would actually bring something of value to the game...I agree, parents need to take responsibility. I wouldn't let my kid play DayZ.
bibbish 49 Posted October 20, 2013 While OP may need a little therapy I think this is a good idea. :P We'd need to find a way to stop people putting heads everywhere though because it would get a little boring/weird. Maybe the limits could be: One head placeable per personAxe required to cut off head (since SA will should have lots of melee weapons no hatchet or fire axe means no decapitation)Knife/machete required to make stake Risk of disease, like someone else mentioned. (Since SA would have lots of different illnesses you would have to be ready in case you got one)Stakes can only be placed in soil, not in roads or stone or wood, maybe not inside buildings (?)

bibbish 49 Posted October 20, 2013 4/5 good work but room for improve :PKoS to avoid server lag by people placing like 10 heads each. All those heads might look a little stupid. Of course a clan could place a head each, imagine coming across six heads in the woods. A good warning.

SalamanderAnder (DayZ) 1747 Posted October 20, 2013 I think it's funny how upset people get when you start talking about maiming their digital avatars, KoS. As if it's a real person we're talking about. But then those same people probably sat through the movie "SAW." LOL

bloodiedsimper 16 Posted October 21, 2013 (edited) What's the point? This isn't Predator where heads are trophies..The point is to show scavengers that they are in the bad lands and should tread lightly.I can picture it now...Just traveling in through the wilderness and seeing 20 stakes with bandit heads on them and a spray painted wall that says "Survivors welcome, bandits fuck off" and it is like a trading post or something where survivors trade and such and bandits would never go near it unless they are looking for trouble. bloodiedsimper 16 Posted October 21, 2013 (edited) We needs splurging blood, maggots and rape! While that would create a realistic apocalyptic atmosphere, that would never be added becauseif it did DayZ would get banned faster than you can say "feminists". Capo 323 Posted October 21, 2013 (edited) Well this is another example of why we have game designers designing games, and not some random guy from the internet. i'm just waiting for kos to suggest necrophilia and rape as gameplay mechanics. KoS, you seem to be playing the wrong game, buddy. This might be more in your range of interest: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/439144 Edited October 21, 2013 by Capo
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) 1747 Posted October 21, 2013 (edited) Well this is another example of why we have game designers designing games, and not some random guy from the internet. Uhg. Shut up. Other games have PvP decapitation. Nobody fucking complains about the amount of gore in Gears of War. http://kdc.ethernia.net/ THIS is why games are developed by game designers and not some random (probably guy) on the internet. Take a look in the mirror. Your game has vacuum cleaners. I don't think you're exactly more "qualified" than anyone else to talk about PvP mechanics. "I am sure that i am not the only one who tried in some rpg to play “the bad guy”, to get a little bit of this mean Darth Vader style in my character. However, it seems to me that either game developers are unable to understand it, or they are trying really hard to teach us that we SHOULDN’T do it." These are YOUR words Kyrah. They are totally in support of "evil" gameplay decisions. You have no room to criticize KoS's ideas so vehemently when you clearly take a stance like this on your own site. As you so eloquently put it; Most gamers are old enough, it isn't the game designer's pedagogic duty to teach us the [virtues] of goodness.
