Are Donator perks the biggest bullshit out there?

How can someone possibly wanna play on a server where you can spawn with better gear if you pay money? THE POINT WITH THE GAME IS TO NOT SPAWN WITH ANYTHING, or at least spawning exactly like other survivors in the game. I can not understand how admins or players can support this in DayZ. Fair enough for any other game, but this goes against the concept of DayZ. Literally makes me sick seeing players on a server using this. If you need donations come up with another solution for goodness' sake. But then again I guess it's already well known that this mod has been overtaken by kids and deathmatch fans, considering there are basically no serious and hardcore servers exisiting anymore.

I wouldn't care if it was just something like a custom skin, but most servers provide really stupid things.

 

Ive seen clans donating with one guy, killing himself over and over to start with dmrs and other weapons for one group, one server I checked their website and they allow you to get an AS50 for $20 even though its normally disabled at the moment

 

Unfortunantly most of the servers are like this nowadays, and its ruining the game.

 

I think many admins don't even play, they just create a deathmatch server and have loads of pay to win loadouts and get the money from it.

 

Which is utter bullshit as I don't want to have to research EVERY server I try and go through their website to find they have this shit

You must be looking at the wrong kind of server. "1000+ vehicles, etc."

Yup, it's a load of crap and sadly quite popular - especially on all the crappy PvP servers.

People should DONATE because they want to help the server they play on, giving  $20 and getting 'donator perks' is not donating, you're paying for an advantage over other players.

If u dont like the server, get the fuck out.

You think I'm interested in the gear you get, or that I would play on a server using this if I had money? Come on. I'm posting a general thread, pointing out that it's ridiculous seeing servers running DayZ mod are actually offering exclusive start gear if you are willing to pay. And even more interesting, seeing players playing on such server.

 

If they can't pay for their hosting, they maybe shouldn't host, or they could offer something else than start gear.

I think it is all about community. Some of us have more money than others. So if you have some extra money donate to a server owner/operator or host a server. Stupid perks are just that, stupid. Find the right server, and donate to it. I've donated to a few servers, just because I liked the admins and the people who played on the server.

DayZ.st costs £20 a month. My mobile contract costs more than that. Yet you see admin messages every 5 minutes that are pretty much begging for cash.

I don't think a person should be judged upon what server they play on. I personally currently play on both a donation server and a +1000 vehicle server. Does that make me a PvP douchebag noob that can't play the game? No. I adhere to the way I play DayZ. I don't donate, I don't constantly PvP, and I hardly use cars. I spawn in just like every one else, and refuse to group with anyone that has donated. I personally have forbid my own group to donate, and anyone that does so is banned from my teamspeak. Don't be so quick to judge everyone by what server they like to play on.

Seeing as how Dean Hall and BI are developing a product meant for distribution, of course they should make money off of it... And seeing as how server owners are paying a company for a service so that they can own a server, no, they shouldn't make money off of it. What you THINK is okay, and what is legal have no correlation between each other. Shop owners rent out their spaces from other people and use that space to make money.

DayZ servers aren't that expensive to maintain. People are supposed to donate for small bonuses, like custom skins, or out of the goodness of their heart. Trust me, you don't need to give away DMRs and leet gear to get people to donate. That's called pay2win, aka something that ruins servers for everyone else who does not donate; it's completely unfair. It's basically, "Give me your money and you can have amazing gear right at the start, you don't even have to scavenge for it! Go kill some freshies!" 

 

Every once and a while a kind individual will spare some money to maintain the server, knowing they will not get free gear. I applaud those people :)
