soc1e7y 3 Posted September 27, 2013 So I spent hours trying to research things, and I can't decide. Here's the dilema, Spend 25$ (which is overpriced as hell) (but possibly worth it) for the opportunity to play this great game/mod that's truly one of a kind ORRR wait for the so called ''stand-alone'' thats still buggy, no vehicles, and pushed back in release. I mean it's already october... Some people are saying it's going to be months! You guys are the real deal community, you know whats going on! If im looking at a minimum of 90+ days of waiting im going to just bit the bullet. I tried to play that horrible rendition ISS because well it looked less buggy and better graphics, only to find out I ABSOLUTELY HATED IT. Anybody who thinks blowing real money takes it to the next level is merley an idiot. Now, Im not concerned with the fact I may be doing alot of ''nothing'' thats the idea of any sandbox type game, run around and make your story...that sounds great! I need to hear some good stories from heavy doubters that got converted. PLEASE LEND ME YOUR INPUT

People say buy arma 3 instead or wait for the standalone blah de blah... but the game is so damn original that its worth shelling out for just to experience it IMO. Theres so many versions of the mod to play also, you wont get bored for a VERY long time. Frustrated & angered maybe with the engine, zombies and other players who all seem to want to shoot on sight, but not bored. I shelled out my hard earned on a new PC just two months ago JUST so I could play this, & its money well spent IMO. I have no regrets shelling out hundreds of pounds to enjoy this unique gaming experience, twenty five dollars is chicken feed in comparison! As long as you dont expect your stories to be fun and frolics filled like the frankie vids you will have a blast. Now is NOT a great time to immerse yourself in the community... you're a few months too late. The mod is still fun and cool for new players, but the way it is right now... it's so focused on PvP. I'd wait for Standalone and get a whole new and fresh experience. BUT we don't know when that will be, so you are perfectly justified buying the mod. It's up to you man. I have been playing for probably a year and a half (or more) now. I have lived it up with the mod and had highs and lows, I just can't enjoy the state it is in at the moment with such heavy focus on PvP. DayZ is an amazing game, I'd never hate on it. Hopefully we'll see the Standalone soon. And please.... for the love of god... if you do end up buying the mod, don't be a douchebag that is so focused on PvP. Play every aspect and immerse yourself, even when others decide to be just buy into the obsessive FPS style play. I'm not saying don't kill people, I'm saying make it about survival, and not about murder. Edited September 27, 2013 by OfficerRaymond

OrLoK 16188 Posted September 27, 2013 Hello there Arma2/OA offers a vast amount more than just DAYZ. Overpriced? No way. Do a little youtubing on A2 mods or take a peek at Armaholic.com. Yes, Arma 3 is out, but its in its infancy and whilst great its not as rounded as its predecessor although it is very "purdy". The SA has no release date at this time so why not go for A2 and its millions of mods and missions and that will keep you going while you save some more pennies for the SA. Rgds LoKI didn't even think of that.... A2 has content falling out the pooper, and half of the people that play DayZ never even experience it. I'm of the group that has. Honestly, Arma 2 is worth buying even if DayZ mod didn't exist.
OrLoK 16188 Posted September 27, 2013 Hello there Yup, there's a bucket load of content there. But, I am somewhat biased and the A2 engine isnt very friendly, so again I would look up reviews and videos on A2 to see if one can but up with its inherent "issues". If OP does go with A2 be prepared to lose Gigs worth of space to mods. I ruthlessly cut mine down to all but the ones I couldnt do without and its now down to a trim 50gb of hdd space. OrLoK 16188 Posted September 27, 2013 i bit the bullet. hope it taste good.Hello There Well, i do hope you did you research first we can only give our points of view. Nothing worse than biting of more than you can chew. Rdgs LoK
soc1e7y 3 Posted September 27, 2013 thanx again everyone. this has been a battle for me all month, but since i don't see the standalone coming out any time soon. I need to break away from this bordem and try something new, even if it might suck. Hell I watch retards blow money on $60 games these days that belong in the dumpster and support greedy non-community oriented gameplay.
OrLoK 16188 Posted September 27, 2013 Hello there Just be prepared that A2 is more a Simulator than a traditional game like CoD or Battlefield. Also, get "Play with Six" and "DAYZ Commander" to ease your handling of mods and DAYZ versions. This isnt a game you just leap into, it takes some time and effort, but your rewards will be a hundredfold. Lastly, dont ramp up your gfx settings especially the view distance, A2 is very demanding. soc1e7y 3 Posted September 27, 2013 (edited) Hello There Well, i do hope you did you research first we can only give our points of view. Nothing worse than biting of more than you can chew. Rdgs LoKi've been researching this game for months, i've put in enough hours of watching youtube to play the game and just find out. Rest assured im not your average ''fps gamer'' from call of duty, been doing this for years and i'm always open minded to new games and concepts, i've wasted money on alot of things, after 5 hours of experimental use and trying all the mods i can possibly absorb ill get my 25 bones worth. Whether or not ill bite of more then i can chew is always a risk.....but really how else do any of us find out? Watching people play a game will never give you the chance to fairly judge. I doubt my buddies would recommend me crap, especially since we're so critical on games. Edited September 27, 2013 by soc1e7y

deebz1234 243 Posted September 27, 2013 dude definitely buy the arma 2 version...it offers soooo much for $25. there are several amazing mods, which eventually you can take your experience further than dayz vanilla.honestly i didnt jump in to dayz till early 2013 and it is still a game I play almost daily (even at work)in one mod form or another... I have yet to play any game that has given me so much for my money (arma 2 that is...)arma 2 on its own is the tits for $
