Animals more or less gone?

Getting punched by zombies all the time now as their range seems to be super powerful, and I keep losing all my blood after a while even when defending myself with the hatchet. So I'm ending up going for some hunting in order to recorder my blood level. However, I can't find a single animal scanning through dozens forests and large fields. No pigs, no cows, no sheeps. I only see a few rabbits once in a while that are impossible to kill when I'm shaking due to my low blood level. This is starting to get pretty boring.

 

Oh, I saw a cow in the middle of the airport. But that was the only non rabbit animal I've seen for several hours searching.

 

Anyone else having problem finding regular animals?

 

Edit: I may also have seen a few dead animals just after 1.8 was released but couldn't get any gear option on them to pick up the meat. For those who are playing alone, animals just got to be working as they should, otherwise the game is unplayable, like it is for me now.

i've seen loads of goats and cows, oddly enough though mostly near the coast. havent tried to harvest any of them for meat though so can't comment on the bug whereby yo ucan't get a gear option to gut/take meat - though i've noticed a few people have mentioned this.

You should try searching by the coast between  Kamenka and Cherno.

After scanning fields and forests mid-map for hours without finding a single animal, I went towards the NEAF only to see 7 animals in the same spot. And when you thought it couldn't be worse, I couldnt get the gear option on any of them. But I do get the Hide and study option. How hard can it be to create a working animal system? It was good half a year ago but now it's entirely awful. I hope for a quick fix because now it is not playable at all.

Yeah I've noticed that too.  When I'm up north I don't usually see that many animals.  However when I'm on the coast I see them just about everywhere.  It's pretty annoying tbh.  Hopefully in SA they'll be more scattered throughout the map.

The animal system must have been broken in 1.8 as it was (and is) working in 1.7.7.1

Some animals simply cannot be gutted. Also, goats be trolling you.

I confirm there is probably an issue.

Since the patch i've gutted half a dozen animals, boar, goat, mutton, cow, no way to open the "loot" and get the meat.

not new done this since mod came out. i had a bug other day killed a cow was gutting it and low on blood i was happy to of found it then i ate some beans too make room which made the cow meat vanish before id even picked it up ! cow still there just the meat harvested had gone.
