You gotta love Starry Sobor

Recommended Posts

wherever I spawn it don't matter, once I've got a gun and bino's i'm going to Starry.

I don't bother entering the town any more, it's too risky, why take the chance when there are plenty of other guys prepared to go for me?

My strategy is simple and devastatingly effective, I position myself under a favourite tree about 500m out and wait.

I never have to wait long, regular as clockwork some poor survivor shows up and hits the tents, I watch. If he emerges with a decent gun the hunt is on.

I track him wherever he goes and when the moment presents itself I kill him and upgrade my gear.

The beauty of Starry is by the time they reach it most players are pretty well geared food and meds wise, not to mention tool belt items and the occasional ghillie.

Even better is when I see a poorly geared player skip Starry and continue north, experience tells me this fella is heading either to a camp or a body, either way they now have a stalker and once they lead me to the mother lode I kill them dead and fill my boots.

For me starry is the best location on the map for finding players to track and kill.

I fuken loves it.

Thanks for the tip, how are the sniping locations in starry? any good?

there are several good spots that look perfect for snipers, I don't tend to snipe here for obvious reasons but the hills just north of the tents are often used by snipers so I guess they are good spots.

I actually respect you for this, since your not just KOSing. Your stalking your prey, waiting for the right moment to strike and getting maximum loot out of your kill.

He isn't exactly KoSing, but he still just shoots them without saying a word as far as we know.

Nail on the head

I never let my presence be felt until the shooting starts.

The first thing they know about any of this is the crack of gunfire and the sickening sound of bullets smashing into flesh and bone.

followed by flies.

Man, you shouldn't tell people how you get your shit in DayZ, dude. Other people will be doing it now. That means people will be more alert now. You're effectively ruining your own tactic.

Good tactic, though.

let's meet all there then! :-)

about this being or not KoS i believe that, in stary you rarely find people friendly after what they just risked..and in the north in general..i've been through friendly encounters only twice in a paint made of gun fights

it's dog eat dog as far as i'm concerned, Survival of the fittest.

I shed no tears for dead players, I do not waste feelings on what are no more than the rotting remnants of a now dead dream. No I celebrate what is a well earned gear upgrade.

That is the reason I don't stay in Stary.

I never go there. I always go around it and head to Vybor, and occasionally hit the airfield, but mostly look for heli crashes.

The loot in stary at the army tents is marginal compared to the NWAF for me any ways to its in the back of the grocery store and then out again..

I don't waste any time there and if it looks like people are in the area then F it I am going around hit sobor and vybor then on to the airfield..

Being more of an AR kind of guy I use a similar strategy but i post up in towns. I only shoot bandits on sight or when I see someone stalking to kill someone else.

Being already in town I am usually surrounded by food and drink right in the very spots I post up in.

It seems to me that the further you go north the more likely you are to run into clans rather than just one or two people at a time.

When I do go north I go to Zelno because I assume bandits will be through there on there way to the bandit trader.

I myself have used this tactic before and it is quite effective. In fact, I've seen many players do it before and it is quite enjoyable to counter snipe or flank them. This is why I generally keep out of towns and only check them when I absolutely need to, rather than just wanting something like a better sidearm. I prefer firehouses.

I used to LOVE Stary. I have resigned a bit from the game (hackers infest the mod like flies on garbage), though Stary and woodland barracks just attracted me.
