Can I Run DayZ Mod? (POST HERE)

Recommended Posts

What is the MAX settings where I would be achieving above 25+ FPS even in cities.

DESKTOP

CPU: i5 3570k 3.4GHz

MOBO: intel Z77

Ram: 16 GB 1600MHz

GPU: Nvidia GTX 650 1 GB

SSD: 120 GB

HDD: 1 TB

Thank you.

You won't have any problems here, i5 is a great CPU for DayZ. You could defintely play on Medium with 30+ FPS, but cities are so unpredictable.

Updated my build, these are the components that have arrived at my door.

AMD A8-5600K 3.6GHz Quad-Core Processor

Corsair Vengeance LP 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

XFX Radeon HD 7850 2GB Video Card

40+ FPS possible?

I would say so yer.

CPU is too slow, but you might get 10 - 30 FPS on low to normal settings.

Well i tried it and it runs very well on high settings  ;)

I don't think you'll get that high fps. My system is stronger, but my FPS drops massively in cities.

In wilderniss i can get about 40-50, but in cities, particularly on servers with a lot of extras, it goes down to 15.

Who knows really, I'd rather get the i5 and 670 but I guess people like to have the top CPU for their builds.

A 650 would bottleneck a 3770k so badly that he won't even see half the power though, lol.

^

although 2GB of ram will suffice for DayZ, you definitely want more. 8GB would be more than enough

Intel i5 4670 3.4ghz

ASUS Z87-A SLI XFIRE

8gb RAM

2gb GTX 760

1tb 7200rpm SATA 3 6gb memory

Then obviously extra cooling fans and a corsair 650w VS series

I posted earlier but never asked what kind of fps I would get with this on high settings??

With amd it is more bang for your buck, but intel is supposedly a bit better for gaming.

Imo its about preference :)

Second build, GPU on first is bottlenecking. 40+ on high.

Call me a bambi or whatever, but what is meant by bottlenecking?

And other way around the cpu is also bottlenecking. You are gonna shoot ur self in the foot since the game won't use more then 2 cores effectively.% Game never uses more then 50% on my 4770k 4.5ghz. When you are gonna play BF3 or crysis3 on an amd 8 core then you would see it shine. swap 3770k for a 3570k and get a 7870 or 660ti instead.

No point in getting in I7 either over i5. I switched and i see no difference in performance at all from HT and 2mb larger cache. Pretty useless since this game doesn't use all threads at all. the larger cache might be beneficial but in this game it's not that noticable.

Overclocking the i5 is the way to go for dayz since every settings no matter what effects cpu usage -__- for me.

Bottlenecking is when a weak link in your system prevents the other parts from working as well as they could otherwise.

Evga GTX 650 ti BOOST SC 2gb

8gb ddr3 g.skill Ripjaws X 2133mhz

What settings and how many frames a second in towns. I'm looking to start playing dayz but don't wanna waist my money if I can't run on ultra and get 40-60 in city's

Far from Ultra. U can run it on Med/Low with 40-60 fps in cities. The card is even equal/a bit slower then a 7850. What people often forget to tell here is on what resolution they play. High resolution also put lots of strain on the cpu and gpu.
