In the market for a new rig, and I'm trying to make the best buy I can.

  • CPU - AMD FX-8350 4.2 GHz Eight Core 64 bit
  • 16GB DDR3 RAM
  • 1TB SATA III 7200RPM
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 1GB

For it's price ($829.99), I'd say it's decent, but I'll let you guys figure that out.

That's an amazing computer worth atleast 1,600!

Which is better

GTX650Ti Boost 2GB

or

PowerColor Radeon HD 7850 2GB

I'd go with the 7850. :)

Processor:
Intel® Core™ i5 2410M
Chipset:
Intel® HM65 Express Chipset
Memory:
8GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1333Mhz - 2 DIMMS
Video/Graphic:
NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 540M with 1GB DDR3 VRAM
Hard Drive:
500GB,  GB Serial ATA, at 5400rpm

I think you'd struggle with low FPS on low settings, sorry!

Desktop or laptop? Desktop

Screen resolution: 1920x1080

CPU:AMD Athlon X4 750K Processor

Graphics card: PowerColor Radeon HD7850 2GB

RAM: 8GB*

SSD? (Yes/No)No

You'll be bottle-necked by the CPU, but it should run 'normal' settings okay.

The FX-8350 is supposed to be great but I'd try to upgrade from the 650 if possible.

I'm not sure about these A series CPUs with built-in graphics, sorry. Will have to leave this for someone else...

Will this be able to play DayZ above 40 fps? Also, if it can, should I buy advanced cabling, Extra Fans 120mm, or a Video Card overclock with it?

This would easy be able to play DayZ above 40, mine is virtually the same aside from the CPU, mine is a 3570k.

Don't bother with the video card overclock, extra fans etc etc etc, unless its (the fans) for the CPU.

Use that money to get a better video card, the 650 is OK, but there are much better ones out there.

Anyone know If the zalman z9 will fit the ASUS gtx 660ti? Like on the motherboard

As long as it's shorter than 290mm it will be fine - both the DCII and reference ASUS cards should fit perfectly.

This is a good setup but I would would slap in a 7750 GPU to crossfire APU to get the best performance on the cheap.

Hi people,

I'd like to ask a few things about my system, hope you guys are happy to help :D

My system is as follows:
Xeon 1230 socket 1155
8gb of memory (gskill orange heatspeader kind of stuff)
2x GTX570 running on SLI
Intel 60gb SSD
500gb WD hard drive
Silverstone 1000w PSU

On average I get just 30-35 FPS. Whenever I alt-tabbed out and back into the game there will be usually a 15-20 seconds delay at 'receiving' for the game. It used to be instant. What can I do to improve the frame rates while still maintaining the high viewing distance and details for spotting/sniping work and recce?

Thanks in advance guys.

-snip-

ArmA 2 doesn't like crossfire GPUs that much, and the CPU is a bit behind. Not by much though. If you upgrade the CPU to something a little stronger, you might get 40+ on high if ArmA 2 is happy with the GPUs.

-snip-

Both are very good computers however the second one is slightly stronger. Both motherboards are great, I've heard good things with Z87s and Z77s.

-snip-

I think the Xeon's are only made really for servers.(?)

As for your quality and graphical questions, turn your Post-Processing effects and Anti-Aliasing off, they make no real noticeable change to the goame, unless they're on high which lags your computer out.

Also try putting quality and texture settings on high, I've heard it puts more load on your CPU rather than your GPU, so it runs smoother. (It could be vise-versa, im not sure)

-snip-

The CPU is way too slow. Your laptop will more than likely overheat and along with <15 FPS, it will be near unplayable.

How is the second one stronger I can customize the stuff on the first one.
