Can I Run DayZ Mod? (POST HERE)

Recommended Posts

this is my build for when they ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ GIVE SA http://au.pcpartpicker.com/user/spartan54820/saved/325s would it run 20+ on high??? and some question from someone who is noob at computers

1.do i need a soundcard to use headphones

2.do i need something for internet gettins

3. do i need cpu cooler

4. should i overclock

5.do i need to buy casefans?

6.if anyone could find the build for cheaper would be grate

7.is the graphics card better than GTX660 or should i get that for cheaper?

That looks like it should be able to max out the SA with 40+ FPS(if it is as optimized as they say it is). r9 270x is a great card.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-r9-280x-r9-270x-r7-260x,3635-8.html on these benchmarks it ran Arma III maxed out with 47 FPS average, and if FPS in the Standalone will be anything like Arma III then you're going to have a good time.

The tests were done on one of those singleplayer infantry showcases, so you might need to turn settings down to maintain a good FPS in Cherno/Elektro.

1. Dunno

2. Not if you use wired Ethernet, if you use WiFi than you're gonna need a wifi adapter. (they're cheap though)

3. I think so

4. If you want, pretty sure you can get atleast a 10 fps boost from overclocking the card.

5. Dunno

6. If you don't mind playing on lower settings, or getting lower on high FPS you could go for a cheaper CPU and GPU.

7. The r7 260x is a bit better than the GTX 660, and less expensive. They are very similar in performance though, so i'd stick with the r7 260x.

If anything I said here was blatantly wrong don't hate me.

Would it be possible to just upgrade the GPU once I get it? If so can you link me one on this website http://ple.com.au/

Yes, but then you'd be paying for two HD 6870s that you don't want on top of already paying more than the machine's worth for buying it pre-assembled.

Have you considered putting a system together yourself?

1. That depends on your motherboard, although most mobos now have a headphone jack. If not, just get a USB headset.

2. Assuming your motherboard has an ethernet port on it (pretty much all of them do these days), you can connect with a direct line to your modem/router. If you're wanting to get wi-fi, you'll need either a wireless card, a USB plugin adapter or a motherboard with built-in WiFi.

3. Depends if you want to cook your CPU or not. Most CPUs will come with a 'stock' cooler that's alright but nothing special. Remember that heat kills components, so it might be worth the investment in a slightly better CPU cooler.

4. If you don't know what you're doing, no. You run a very real risk of damaging your hardware, and in many cases, benefits aren't that great anyway. The guy that said 'you get an average 10fps increase' from overclocking is talking rubbish.

5. Depends on your case - in a large, roomy case they're probably not essential - in a small, cramped case, they're pretty much mandatory. They're not expensive though, and as discussed above, heat kills components, so better to have them than not.

Why would you wanna know? I'll quote something you posted over a week ago:

I've been playing DayZ for a while and usually I just team up with the first person I see, ((Most of the people I run in are friendly so it's okay)) So  I just got back from the TC ((epoch)) and I got a bike, these two guys came  with an Orange suv. I shot him through the windowglass the guy came out and before he could do anything I started spraying him with bullets he passed out on the ground and then quickly woke up while he woke up I took his gun then I shot him in the head and he died I started shooting at his friend but he quickly jumped in his S.U.V. and ran away . It was an satisfying experience.

Must be joking. Seems like you've been playing the game for while! Of course you can run it, your system can run any game and you know it. Good day sir :)

VecaHZ, your system itself is not bad but your GPU will hold back your gaming performance.
Looking at the Passmark list the GT 630 scores about 700 points which is somewhat equal to an 8800 GT (http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/mid_range_gpus.html). I know from experience that cards simular to 8800 GT performance won't run the game very well. If your lucky u can run it on the absolute lowest details but it won't be a very smooth experience.. If you really want to get into pc gaming I suggest you should upgrade your gpu since the rest of your system is fine!

Actually I'm buying this PC in monday or so. Got no more budget. I just want to play dayZ, on ALL lowest. I hope it won't be laggy uh? Well, it will be A LOT playable? Right?

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 x2 2.5 GHz CPU Speed: Info RAM: 1 GB OS: Windows XP or Vista Video Card: Nvidia Geforce 8600GT or ATI Radeon 3650 or faster with Shader Model 3 and 512 MB VRAM Sound Card: Yes

those are minimum, and my covers this as I know? shouldn't I be able to run it?

VecaHZ, I wouldn't put too much value in those minimum requirements. Yes, your system is better. Yes, you CAN run the game and it should be somewhat playable (the latter is debatable). But those requirements are for ArmA II itself right? ArmA II runs way smoother than DayZ mod. Actually it even differs from mod variant to variant. Say, DayZero runs smoother or less smooth than DayZ Overwatch or DayZ Epoch depending on the area.

By all means give it a go, it's only 20 bucks anyway but don't expect it to be a butter smooth stable 30 fps or higher experience.

I've got DAYZ already (ARMA II CO), I'm buying THAT PC, got no more than those 600 $. And I don't want to order things from other countries or such, I'm getting this in two days. I don't want HIGH fps, I just want to walk smoothly and shoot smothly. So ALL lowest, all all, I hope it won't have lag spikes. It's okay in Cherno, but I mean on open fields and such.

Okay I see what you mean. Yeah open fields should be a bit better, its hard to predict the exact framerates of course but I reckon those kinds of situations shouldn't be too laggy. In the end only you can tell wether the performance is adeqate for your liking or not :).

All depends on what you think is 'smoothly'. If you are willing to settle for 20-25 fps avarages in open areas then sure, it should probably be smooth. However I'd feel much more at ease to tell you wether the game would be smooth or not if your system just packed a bit more punch (say, simular to HD4870 performance, about 1300+ Passmark points or higher). I know systems like those can run DayZ, and for me personally that would be the absolute lowest I would go. When you go lower than that (as is the GT 630) the framerate will be right on that 'edge' of being playable and being too low to have a fun time playing the game. But like I said, it's all up to you, what you feel is smooth or not, and maybe it's not all that bad. That's all I can say about it! Wish you all the best with your new system :).
