Can I Run DayZ Mod? (POST HERE)

Recommended Posts

Sorry if this is a bit noob-ish but I'm new to these parts of the forums so yeah. Also note that I'm still building this computer so parts are still interchangeable.....can anyone recommend a gpu with more bang for the buck? Also what FHS am I looking at with this setup?

-intel core i7 3770k 3.5 Ghz

-Nvidia GeForce gtx 680 2 gb gddr5

-4gb pny ram

-gigabyte h61m-ds2----motherboard

-decent power supply

-about 1tb had

-60gb ssd

Just a quick note.

You have a 3770k on a motherboard that doesn't allow for overclocking. You will need a z77 board or alternatively a regular 3770 which is cheaper so you can spend the cash on a better gpu, or maybe higher gig ssd.

I saw 2 answers and all 2 sad me I will not be able to play.

But I think people here only think if will I can play with full quallity probably...

Because I today install DayZ and play it.

My ask was been how much chance will I have to play DayZ - not need to bee high quallity...

And I have chanse to play normal with low-normal quallity.

Theres a big difference between playable and a slideshow. Your laptop will not maintan a playable FPS in cities. If you can handle 10-20fps unlike many of us. Go ahead and play.

- CPU: AMD FX-4 4100 3.6Ghz Quad Core CPU

- Motherboard: AMD 760G (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard

- RAM: 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 Dual Channel Kit

- Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 2048MB GDDR5

This will run perfect on Normal with Full HD 100% 3D resolution. Friend has the GTX660. Definetely 60+FPS outside towns. However in towns you will notice a big fps drop to 30 because of the strain on the cpu.

Get the gtx 760 and you will run it fine very high settings 40+ fps

Currently you can run it but the graphics card is a big bottleneck.

The 760 GTX gives you a good performance for the money.

If you don't want to spend so much money the 7870XT is also a very good choice to be honest or maybe the 7950 with 3GB of memory instead of 760 2GB. AMD cards just got their price drop because they just announced their new card, maybe you could wait abit longer for more price drops?

I have the 760GTX. Very solid card for the price. It bottlenecks abit on Very High so i have to put it abit lower on High.

The 770 will run on very high with no problem.

GPU is bottlenecking, fix that up and you could get 30+ on normal.

Not a chance, not with a 1.8GHz CPU. Too slow. Sorry!

i5-4670K CPU

NVIDIA 680 GPU

Cooler Master Haf 912

Hyper 212 Cooling (CPU)

16 GB (1600MHz) of RAM.

2 TB Hardrive.

I know this can run it, I just want to know what FPS, in towns and out.

Recommend a better GPU or CPU?

If anything I'd upgrade the 7850 to the stronger 7870.

So I could run it maybe? And by CPU you mean my i5 core?

You could run it with that build, but with less than 20 FPS. The GPU is a major bottleneck, something like a 660 would fix that up and get you 30+ on normal settings.

40 - 50+ in everday places, ~30 in cities and forests. (The cities and forests with AA and PPE either disabled or on low.)

4670k will get you more like 40FPS minimum in cities as you said with no AA/PPE as i get around that too with no overclock on 4770k since hyperthreading doesn't do jack shit. *Tested*

Since you have the hyper 212 i think you are also doing a mild overclock? Or it's a waste of buying that cooler. could easily yield more fps in cpu heavy areas.

680GTX will easily reach 60+FPS outside of towns and forests. Or my GTX 760 wouldn't do it either. and i play on 2560x1080, higher then full HD.

My current specs are as follows...

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Processor @ 3.40GHz

MSI GeForce 660 Ti OC 2GB

4GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz

I can run DayZ on high settings and get decent FPS but I would like to gain a bit more so I need some help. Would I benefit from putting another 4-8GB of ram into my system?

Yes, across the board, if you have the OS that will deal with the extra.

That should be in towns but more like around 30fps due to AMD horrible fpu/IPC performance. Had the Fx8350 for test, sucked and now its on one of my minecraft/storage server.

Very low on Full HD. I think it won't even run on Full HD at all with that card. It will run only most likely on 1024x800/1280x720 low/med without a problem. The bottleneck here lies on the GPU mostly.

The minimum FPS in towns i guess should be around 30-40. The CPU Might be a dual core but the single core performance is very solid should be slightly on par with ivy-bridge i3/i5. Dayz never use more then 2 cores/fpu units.

Can anyone tell me if there are any incompatabilities or anything to be wary of in this build I put together? http://au.pcpartpicker.com/user/rabidgerbil/saved/2t5j

Build looks fine only what's sad here is the horrible cpu cooler. You won't see a stable temp with that crap beyond 4.2 *Unless lucky* as Ivy get extremely hot compared to sandys. If you don't plan to overclock high, get a cheap z87 motherboard or invest into a better after-market cooler like the corsair h100/h100i or better if you want to push it far beyond its limit. Don't forget, just to overclock your cpu is kinda expensive to be honest. Saves you big buck just to buy a low-end otherboard and no aftermarket cooler at all :D.
