Do you play on first or third person servers?

Alright, I know that seems like I would start the same poll again, but this is something different. I heard from a lot of the TPV (third person view) lovers that the fact that most of the people play on TPV-servers is evidence that most of the people actually want third person.

But my theory is, that even if most of us want to play on FPV-servers we play on the TPV-servers anyway. Me for example I really would like to play only first person, but actually I play mainly on TPV-Servers.

 

Maybe I am wrong, but we will see. If most of us vote for A) this would destroy the main argument of the TPV-lovers, which is that we do not represent the community because the community is obviously not doing what we want.

I don't play dayz much anymore because of the lack of hardcore first person servers, third person just puts me off playing the game.

Mostly play on third-person enabled server but would like to use first-person a lot more, third person is pretty much a necessity on these serves though since it provides such an advantage in comparison to purely first-person.

I was playing on AWA #3 which was first-person only but I checked in the other day and it was completely empty. :(

Not trying to be rude, but there are only 17 votes, a fraction of the membership of this forum which represents a fraction of the players utilizing the servers, so we're talking about less than 1% of the players, the poll proves...well, very little.

Use to play on Chicago 12 FP only. Sadly it closed down. I've got to say, I never ran in to a scripter playing on FP only servers. They were just too casual for me I guess!

Going to be blunt here. Most people who say they'd love to play on FP only servers are lying. There are tons around with people on them, it's just people have gotten custom to peeking around corners and over walls with third person.

Even I have that bad habit. Was playing ArmA 3 missions and I kept accidentally switching to third person to see over a hill. I'd usually catch myself and switch back, but it just goes to show how the habit is almost instinctive. Without it, you lose your omnipotent-like power of seeing over objects and around corners.

When I played more I played in Finnish FPV server but it slowly went down after the hack fest. After that I haven't played that much actively but when I play I play in private Finnish FPV server but there's only 0-3 players so basically I haven't played much since January. Everyone plays Wasteland nowadays.

Like I said it is too soon. If there were 100 votes we could have some interpretation. And it is not about all the players, it is about the hardcore players. Because they are simply the people who will play the standalone. Do you think all those kids who play right now the DayZ mod with 50.000 AS50s per server will enjoy the standalone where you got to be very, very lucky to even find ammo for a m4? Really doubt that.

But you are being rude. A poll has been made on reddit and similar results have been gathered for the same subject (FPV or TPV). Therefore this poll must be valid (to a point) as well.

You can, but it requires you to edit your config file.

The FOV change is so small from third to first person. Spam the camera switch button and see for yourself. It's only your perception of increased FOV because you can see your character and what's out of his peripherals. The game does need an FOV slider, but I seriously doubt that will change anything. People will just come up with another excuse like being aware of your immediate surroundings and such.

Hear ye hear ye...the lack of hadcore servers is annoying and restricts my gametime too. Finding a server with 1st person only and no f..king crosshair is hopeless.

 

Im pretty sure most serveradmins enable 3rd person because they wanna cater to everyones playstyle...thinking they can get the 1st person and 3rd person players by having both. From the polls its pretty obvious that the majority dosent want this.

 

I suspect that things would have been different if admins only could choose between 1st and 3rd....and not have the option to choose having both. As of now a server with both 1st and 3rd is perceived (from a admins standpoint of view) as a better choice than 1st only server.

Give me 7 screenshots, one for each day of the week, of a first person only server with 40+ people on it every day and I'll believe you.

If you are unable to do that, I believe I deserve an apology for being accused of being such things.
