Hi guys, I've been playing a lil' bit o' Day Zed recently and I thought supplies were too easy to come by. I think, if we were to make most supplies rarer, it'd encourage KOS, but it'd also encourage team-play among others, I think most players would unite toward a comon goal. People would have to scavenge alot more, and with rarer guns and equipment, we'll be seeing alot less "Oh, I've got all teh good gear, now it's borin', guess I'd better snipe noobieZ in Chernogorsk", this often happened because high end gear was easy to come by.

I also feel that we need more random spawns. I think that per-server, there could be unique spawns for each player. Say you choose to play the role of a Farmer, you might spwn at a random farm in Chernarus, each role would spawn with different clothing, yet at a different location, this might also encourage RP-ing.

Thanks if you read this. I understand that my ideas are flawed, I am grateful for constructive critizism. Regards, Teh Feckin' Leprechaun Fella.

Food shouldn't be rarer, its everywhere; in houses, in supermarkets, theres more than likely something edible everywhere.

Only some types of medecine(?) should be rarer: anti-biotics, morphine etc etc, the more valuable stuff. I think there should be more emphasis on homemade medical items: splints made out of sticks and a t-shirt, whiskey for a painkiller etc etc.

Weapons shouldn't be rarer, except for military weapons. They should only be found in camps, airfields and military establishments. Shotguns, bolt action hunting rifles and low caliber handguns should have a common spawn.

I think food and weaponry should be rarer. Why? cause' it makes the game more challenging, and in RL, most people would probably have looted most of the shops. Weapons should be extremely rare, ammo even more-so. I think we need more melee weapons too

Food should be more rare. While food is common in real life, you must realize: this is in the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse; all the common places would already be heavily looted. Food would be rare.

I am unsure how the new medical system works, but I would like medical supplies to be rare to encourage teamwork, so the less there is the better (to a degree).

I concur with dulix11 about the weapons. Civilian weapon spawns are fine as they are, but military weapon spawns need to be way more rare.

I think guns should be rarer, but at the same time they should bring spawning with a makarov back. If you've survived the apocalypse for this long, you'd probably have a weapon of some sort. Melee weapons should be everywhere though. Seriously, what's the chance of going into a house and not finding a knife or an axe?

Also the medicine. Either they should bring the infection rate down or keep it the way it is, and give us some more medicine. Yes i'm one of those guys. The infection rates has made it almost unplayable, and i haven't played since 1.7.7.1 was released.

^ yeah, melee weapons should be everywhere.

Especially in a place like Chernarus where it seems to be evident that people do a bit of manual tasks before winter like chopping and stacking firewood.

Probably chop up a few of their own animals? firearms should be most common off the coast on farms and cottages where their might be people that enjoy a bit of the hunting.

At the same time ammo should still be scarce.

Rare or not rare wouldn't stop KoS. KoS is an element that was introduced when CS kiddies found out about this game. The only common goal players with no imagination have is to shoot each other on sight. Even with only one round left they would still shoot eachother or use the hatchet if they have no ammo. The only cooperation they know is "i kill you to make you cooperate and take all your stuff". Random players would never join forces to loot a town, share the resources they have and go their way, there will always be an asshole who wants everything for himself because there is no need to hesitate, "it's a fucking game".

Really? I was in a high-pop server once, big group of bandits were fortifying buildings in chernoorsk and killing anyone who came near. I met some bambi's and we formed a large group, pooled our guns, and killed the bandits. DayZ isn't completely made up of CS/COD/BF kids. There are still a few genuinely nice players who play the mod like it should be played.

Limiting ammo and weapons are one of the best ways to get rid of KoS. If a player has 7 bullets and he just can't find anymore because it's so hard to find ammo, then he will try really hard to save the bullets. Therefore he will kill other players just when he's sure the other player wants to hurt him. Everybody knows that REWORKED AMMO AND GUNS SPAWN SYSTEM IS A  #1 MUST FOR STANDALOEN

Did you not say big group of bandits at the start of the post?

They probably saw the bandits stuff as a better reward anyway.

I wonder how many of those players met afterwards and just shot at eachother like the bandits did.

That's not necessarily true.

I've been fired upon by KOS'ers in DayZ who ended up getting killed, and looking on their corpse I'd found that they only had a few bullets left, at most. (The majority had emptied their weapon)

We encountered a lot of others ( loners and groupers ) who had tons of mags that you could fill two of the bigger backpacks with the weapons and ammo they carried. Well...they were actually stupid to risk all that just to be able to shoot one or two guys who happen to be in a group of up to 10... ( point team ftw ) at least they can't DC like they used to when they found out they were about to get f*cked after finding out they bit off more than they could chew.

What is Day Zed ?

Could you not be sarcastic?

Overall on topic a real good idea. Sometimes seeing people run around with AKM's or M4A1 CCO is a little too common. And seeing people fight over food like crazy rat bastards would be another liked idea for me.

My beans to you ya little Irish bugga! *Rustles hair*.

This is Russia we are talking about you can find dam tank traps in a gas station I think if you can find Tank traps at your local petrol station you can find a dam gun...

I think that put WHOLE FOOD rarity ( or almost whatever ) is wrong, ex : Cherno is a big city so shopping should have more food than Vybor city.  Near NWAF there'r 3 shopps Stary, Pustoshka and Vybor, NWAF is the best place to find guns so you just live there . So MHO % of stuff should be rarer depending place size and of course military weapons should be rarer than now ( anyway rarity depend on server same as 3rd p and crosshair )

Rarer supplies makes the game more fun. I think most food would've been hoarded, so I'm hoping there'll be more of an incentive to go out into the countryside for supplies. I think guns and ammo need to be rarer,so people would conserve ammo more and value their weapons.

Also, Cherno is a town, not a city. Well, by Irish standards anyway.

But, making things you need more rare. The game have to respond in the same way. If you wanna stealth, the game shouldn't make zombies randomly run at you and cripple your legs. Leaving you for dead.

Only using melee weapons against the undead would be even more risky.

They're not undead...

And, melee combat is going to be improved in the SA. It'll make the game HARDOAR! which is what we need!

Pretty much everything needs to be rarer I think. In the current DayZ there is no need for Bandits what so ever since there is so much food and supplies to go round. I made a suggestion of a so-called "challenge-gamemode" a while ago - the idea being that during one gameplay items simply shouldn't respawn, thus making people hoard resources at the beginning then, as lootable supplies dwindle, banditry becomes more necessary and zombies more threatening over time - also a more functional permadeath.

In summary I agree strongly with your view.

Yeah, apparently in the SA, loot and zombieZ are all spawned when the server re-starts/starts up, so it's not activated by players entering the area. I think this'd be cool for the REAL Day Zed experiance

i always thought that if food and water/guns and ammo were rare enough to were people would trade one for the other that would be the best

medicine would be the best to trade with but only if it was super rare

Gotta be careful about giving a guy without a gun a gun.
