Idea for KoS

Recommended Posts

So everybody knows that KoS is a cancer of DayZ. By the way, some people kill other people just for bandit skin, because it's a good natural camo, and it's different from a survivor skin. Hero skin is not that different from a regular survivor skin and it's a really crappy reward for being a hero. So the point is, to make a lot of rewards for being a hero, like when a player's humanity gets high, (i was thinking about 10k or something like that, not to make it too easy tho) he can get some cool unique masks, clothes, scarfs, and all that crap, and more humanity you have,  more cool things you get, while being a bandit gives you shit. So when you are a bandit, other player will try to kill you even harder, trying to get those unique rewards.

And the other idea, but this one is more kinda like dreaming, is about a profession of bandit-hunter in DayZ. I don't really know how exactly that would work but let's say that killing more than 20-30 bandits or so gives you a unique COOL (so cool that people would want to get it) bandit-hunter skin :D

I genuinely thought you meant the forum member :P

The problem is that it is full of cod kiddie's, I feel Dayz needs a ridiculously steep learning curve in order to crush the kids.

custom clothes in standalone = no more forced skins

This would only make bandits try harder to see how low their rewards can get.

Btw, I thought you meant the forum member "KoS". They're both cancers to DayZ, and they are both really crappy!

No. I think that people who like the bandit style shouldn't be punished, in RL, you don't get a special outfit/mask/perk for killing people.

I think that heroes reward is how they are treated by others. Same with bandits. And for me its enough.

I like learning curve, the kiddies just come in find gun and KOS or loose interest in somebody quickly before they stab them in the back.

DayZ should be less deathmatchy with a reduction in guns though.

I personally hope bandits are instead visually covered in blood, at the same time a real loner bandit wouldn't take the time to clean and make himself presentable.

Rewards and/or penalties of any kind will not stop KoS players or even nudge it by a cunt hair. Most bandits and KoS players kill just for the shits, giggles and chubbies.

They do but I also think the Chenarus map makes it easy for them too.  Everyone spawns off the coast.  Most people go to Cherno or Electro.  Thus the map naturally creates high value areas for KOSing.  If spawns were completely random over more of the map and areas for loot were distributed more equally we eliminate these high value KOS areas.  Makes for the shits and giggles KOS more tedious.  Eventually some of them lose interest because hanging on top of a hospital in Electro is not nearly as gratifying.

The bandit skin? Natural camo? I'm not sure how much more wrong you could possibly be. It stands out like a sore thumb and it's near-white desert camo doesn't fit Chernarus to any degree. It does however look significantly more badass than the survivor skins. My favourite is the Hero Skin, but of course it takes so much effort to get, let alone maintain.

As previously stated, customisable clothes will be a very important character in the Kill on sight/humanity debate, and will hopefully add another aspect of eeriness and mystery to DayZ.

too right, people will still KoS regardless of any penalties if they are doing it for fun since they just don't give a shit. It does however punish proper bandits (you know, the kind of player DayZ needs so it isn't a boring humans vs zombies situation) because they won't be able to be sly or have a chance to be given the benefit of the doubt when people just go you're covered in blood *blam*

It's a joke. I'd always seen him as an ally with Goo0gle.

I think the community is too broken for that to work.

I saw a hero once, he shot me because he was actually a hacker and his legs didn't break with Winchester shots.

He killed my friend and when we tell the admin on side chat he tells the whole server infront of him.

Not to mention most heros are just shot at by most people anyway because everybody else is happy to kill somebody that looks like they have loot.

I don't think KOS is something you can "patch".  its not a game problem.  Its a people problem.  Main issue with dayz is...why not KOS?  Nothing else to do.  I can't build anything.  There are no long term goals besides trying to up my survive counter.  If you want to remove KOS then you need to give reason to live and work together.

Currently is dayz there is very little reason.  Anything I want to get I can get on my own.  People tend to get in my way and killing them and looting them allows me to get to my goal faster.

I feel the best way to get rid of KOS is to take a ideal from orgins. Make base buildings and other long term goals.  Things that require a lot of effort to do.  People will be more inclined to team up to meet those goals.  Maybe a man builds a fort but can't defend it himself.  He meets people he can trust and they help him defend "their" fort.

Still I do have some honor codes.  I don't shoot unarmed (waste of ammo and time).  I don't shoot people who helped me or didn't shoot me when they had the chance (paying back the favor) but besides that.  I don't see much reason to not shoot on sight.

Oh and Chaingunfighter.  DON'T INSULT THE MASTER!

DAYZ MEDICS CLAN 4 LIFE!   :D

^do you shoot heroes?

No.  Not usually.  Most hero's are friendly. (some of them get the skin from blood transfusing their friends.  Not actually helping peopling.  Watch out for those.)

want to reduce KOS?

remove 3rd person.

watch the city campers flee to the woods once the ability to exploit the maze of walls, doorways, stairwells, rooftops, windows and corners disappears.

also the lack of fir tree light bending will force players out in the country to think more carefully about initiating a gun fight.

He will need to expose himself to even spot another player, returning real fear and tension to all combat situations and removing the light hearted comedy nature of pvp with 3rd person.
