ace5762 (DayZ) 20 Posted August 21, 2013 In the theme of lootable outfits that give contextual boons/deficits to a player, my suggestion is biohazard gear. Pretty simply, it gives the user immunity to infection from zombie hits and from other players. The player would still be vulnerable to infection from other sources, however. The obvious deficit is the bright colours and sharp texture of a biohazard suit, making the player much more visible in any environment, thus making it more risky in making yourself visible to bandits.
King of kong 1117 Posted August 21, 2013 Been suggested before, use search function, nice idea though, beanz
Statik (DayZ) 2695 Posted August 22, 2013 Biohazard suits protect you from air born viruses, etc. You player is immune to the zombie virus, thus rendering a biohazard suit useless. A biohazard suit won't stop you from getting an open wound from a strike/bite.
AP_Norris 1018 Posted August 22, 2013 I like the idea however zombies would rip through it.It should just protect from all external means that aren't administered by hits to the player.
IkaikaKekai 1957 Posted August 22, 2013 There's going to be many infection factors (and many types of infections) so this is still something viable (if we can get infections just from being near dead bodies or certain areas) As said above a thin sheet of plastic won't really protect against bites or scratches (to a certain degree they will but not much).

So basically you would also run around in a suit 24/7 because we are surrounded by viruses and bacteria.A "plastic" suit won't help you much since it will rip under force. I wouldn't be surprised to find a lot of old NBC suits in some underground soviet bunkers. Edited August 22, 2013 by Enforcer

And yes protective suits usually have a 'time limit' on them (radiation suits only block a certain % of radiation, extending the time you can spend in an area before you get into the 'unhealthy dosage' amount, chem suits can only last so long ((chemicals eat through the suit, filters get clogged, leaks ect ect ect)) and as stated biosuits will suffer wear and tear.IRL no I would not, they don't make biosuits in my size and I sweat like a pig already :P
