Does anyone here play Non-PvP servers? I've been playing on one for the past few days. I personally enjoy it because of the objective gameplay they have added with custom scripts and AI.

What's the point in playing without bandits?

Yeah, we all hate bandits, yada-yada

But face it, without them, the game is virtually lifeless! You need bandits as much as they need you!

Don't argue with it. These are the same cretins that script because they don't believe anyone has the right to kill them.

even if i get shot often, and die over and over again by snipers, hatchet maniacs, even if i get crippled in the middle of cherno by a makarov noob, even if i get betrayed, i'll always play dayz for the emotions he brings: frustration when you die or you cannot find an empty tincan..satifaction when you kill a bandit or you just found a colt while chased by the previous hatchet maniac, when you fix a bambi's broken leg, when you find a friendly guy giving you some blood at elektro hospital..when you group with people in an underfire building..pve is just dealing with crappy infected AI..how can you throw away the opportunity to measure yourself with another human, an enemy which is smart and deadly..you can also fail and die..but when you succeed it's the best feeling a videogame can give you..because it means you've been calm, cold, you've been smarter and worked your ass to climb that hill, to read the enemy's path and moves, you managed your resources, your ammo, you aimed steady and fired at the right moment and you prevailed.

Ok, it looks like nobody is gonna be sensible in this thread and answer becks question but instead bitch about how they don't like Non-pvp servers, and being sensible is not really my thing on this forum.

Yes Beck i have played on a non-pvp server recently and i too enjoyed it, i even made a friend. We happened to be looting the same place when we stumbled arcoss each other and we were both infected looking for AB So we decided to team up and go on an adventure together. So off we went across chernarus looking for enough AB to cure us both we search all towns and cities we came across untill about 3 hours later we eventually reached berezino, we were out of bloodbags and our blood was was abit low so we decided to loot the hospital for bloodbags and of course AB. Anyways While we were looting i found one AB and considering i had higher blood levels i gave the AB to my companion and we celebrated, and while we were celebrating a troll decided to creep up our bums and try to shoot at us, Sadly the troll shot my dear friend and kill him instantly which ended with me exacting vengeance on the troll.

My friend left the server and the troll was banned including me from my vengeance act.

Was a tale of friendship and lots of running with a sad ending.

I played on a non-PvP RP server but the non-PvP aspect totally killed it for me.

There is no real threat and it's literally just running around gathering gear to do.. nothing.

Bandits are the driving force behind DayZ and without the threat of bandits I don't see any real reason on gearing up past a certain point just to shoot zombies or AI squads.

NonPVP is like going to the zoo to see all the animals behind bars and glass...kinda boring.

I haven't tried no-PvP and I don't really want to.

However I can see how it could be fun and engaging... if the server has ArmA-like cooperative scenarios with large opposing AI forces... but then I'd just play ArmA and skip the gear gathering since it's not really DayZ anymore. : P

Yes, I have played on one. I justify it as when i first played this about a month ago, it was my first computer game in about 25 years (Oregon trail anyone? Lol). I did not even know any of the basic controls, and was killed twice as I spawned in before I could even figure out how to check my inventory. My kid got me in to this game as his old computer couldn't handle it, so he took over mine. After watching him play for a while, I decided to give it a go. I ended up having to buy a new computer so we could play side by side. He recommend going to a non PVP server till I had the basics down. Ive moved on since then, and while I still avoid the high population, bandit heavy servers, I do think the non PvP servers would be boring.

Haven't tried no-PvP servers.  And haven't played much on PvP servers for that matter.  Since I was lone-wolfing, the only experience I had with PvP was getting spawn killed a couple times.  I just started playing a couple months ago, then "the infection" with 1.7.7.1 descended.  I quit playing public servers because of that.

From the beginning I installed DayZCC, so me and my partner could roam and practice.  That's what we play now, but I handle the infection with plenty of anti-biotics in the loadout.  He joined public servers too, but really got pissed at the infection.  Not PvP, just infection.

I didn't like not worrying about PvP, so I added SARGE AI without telling him.  Next best thing, or better, depending on how you view it.

He got killed by the AI pretty quick, and told me to change the server password.

Thought other players got in.  I had to tell him, of course.

We've played quite a bit, building one base on the south coast, and another at NW airfield.  Scattered choppers at other spawn points.

Got killed quite a few times by the AI, but we're now getting the best of them.  We needed better weapons.  I can adjust AI if they get too easy.

Basic difference from public servers is no "stranger interaction."  AI don't talk, they just KOS.  And all the toys are ours.

So anybody with a decent rig can install DayZCC for Chernarus.  Free.  The previous version can run other maps with DayZ 1.7.6.1.

Namalsk, Taviana, etc.

But of course no "stranger interaction," which to some is a very important part of DayZ.

Personally, I don't miss killing guys, such as a poster here named KoS.

That's a lot easier than dealing with a squad of AI trying to flank you, and I'm not subjected to inane side chat text or direct comms from 10-year olds.

I think no-PvP can get boring pretty quick. Me and my partner like having the AI after us.

We're looking forward to rejoining public servers when the infection gets dealt with.  If ever.
