Well Arma 3's got Alpha and Beta. Those are copies that you can buy before the full release, at a discounted price, so I'd say it's better than pre-ordering.

Same as Standalone, it'll be available for Alpha purchase which will be cheaper than the full-release. Plus you get to play early.

The SA has already been confirmed as going the same route, It'll be released in an Alpha stage at a reduced price, then Beta with a price increase and then full RC at retail value.

It's exactly how the ArmA series is released :)

Why would you want to pre-order something.  Have you learned nothing from disaster's like Aliens Colonial Marines.

 

 

Pre-ordering isn't a good option.  The game is going to available on steam, you are going to get a copy.

Their not trying to take all your money before they even have stable game. They will likely release the alpha in batches to keep a tight watch on server load. Even if it comes out this month, its going to be a while before us normal folk get it into our hands. Be patent..

I believe "dramatic" is the wrong term to use. Nothing's dramatic about "translation" .. From that point, it's dependant on perspective and that's how you handle the situation. Turning a helpful solution to a hostile situation is never key to submitting a post on the forums so think before you post. :)

Edit; Forgotten to post anything related to the topic so pre-ordering in the Standalone wouldn't be really anything good since I believe buying a product should be equal to every consumer instead of having "benefits"
