Better Blood Physics

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

Just so you know who I am I am SASdave13, and yep, you guessed it, I'm a newbie.

I thought about bringing up this topic when I saw the quick flash of red when I shot an attacker in the chest, and wasn't to impressed with the animation. If you could edit it so it comes more realistically that would be very nice, oh and throw in a blood spread on the ground from wounds and maybe add a blood trail for added awesomeness if you can.

If you can't find any good art for the blood, try out Deus Ex: Human Revolution, I've noticed some good detail in the blood spatter on walls and ground if you shoot someone with a widowmaker shotgun, and also noticed the satisfyingly beautiful (but small) red spurt that comes from enemies when you pop a 9mm round in their artificial brains.

Oh and one more thing; Make the weapon caliber count, if you shoot an enemy in the chest with a Barret 50. cal, there would be a lot more blood than shooting them with a 9mm pistol.

Besides, thanks for taking some time to read this, good luck to you improving the blood if you think this is good. :)

Im not sure we can, as it is currently based off the ARMA 2 engine, so we cant change the effects, or it would be very hard anyway...

The SA will hopefully have better physics.

Yep, I hope we get blood running down the player instead of everything being a direct puncture of a main artery.

Ah movie physics...

Blood does not spurt out of people in a wet blob when they get shot, we are not bags of blood on legs nor are we made of jello... You should watch less movies and cook more to see what fresh meat looks like :)

Unless your cutting the necks of living livestock your meat has already been drained of its blood.

Indeed, but i'm more thinking about the "texture" of meat, which is more like a slightly dense sponge.

Fibres of dead muscle, thousands of years later and still the best tasting thing ever!

I don't know if you've ever played a game called overgrowth, but when you slash someones neck or cut them with a sword blood just starts to poor out. It's so realistic

That game is awesome. Unfortunately DayZ will probably never be able to support anything like that.

I would also like to see blood trailing, but it would have to be done right. That, and looting a corpse that is still bleeding should get blood on your clothes.

That would be perfect amount of gore. Especially if we can mutilate players with a kill blow in melee comparable to chivalry medieval warfare.

Well one thing for sure. They really need rag dolls that you mutilate like in Dead Island. I want to do this to a player.

Dat game.

Is insane.

It's truely not so realistic, they are humanoid rabbits and dogs. But the engine tracks where the blade lands and creates a gush around that location and drip some blood but it's an awesome game.
