just an idea

Recommended Posts

so we all know that alt f4ing is always been a problem but the other night i had an idea. dont know if its been said before but what do you think about putting in a suicide option that is always bound to those keys with no option to change it so sure they could alt f4 and close the game but they would just die and respawn when logging back in or is that something that would not be possible? thoughts?

they are making it so when you go to log out your character stays in the game for like a minute before disappearing.

Alt-F4 is a Windows command. That means it is fairly high level. The person running it would have to be a Local Admin on the machine for the software to override the Windows default. Now, most people will be playing this on their own computer so they will be Admins Buuuuuuuuuut... Windows Vista/7/8 all run programs by default as User and not Admin so the software wouldn't gain permission to override the Alt-F4 command unless the person told Windows to "Run As Admin". This means many people would have a way to get around it, while the honest people who don't do this already would be the only ones running it correctly.

Sadly that is impossible to do within the DayZ mod because of how the netcode is handled by the ARMA 2 engine.

DayZero does it.

30 second logoff timer. Disconnecting early means your character will stay ingame and "surrender".

It should say when they're logging out so you know it's safe to run up on them, and punish them for their crimes.

What've I been preached, then?

*shrug* I guess I stand corrected.
