King of kong 1117 Posted July 26, 2013 Hello people, I had an idea. What if you would have to oil and clean your firearms, maybe disassemble them to check problems. If you never took care of your gun it would have a high chance of jamming, swimming may cause a gun jam due to water filling up the chamber. Rain can cause rust over time, you can find waterproof gun bags to protect your weapon in rain/water/mud.

Sirhc5509 12 Posted July 26, 2013 I think Rocket mentioned having a gun cleaning kit item then you need to use every so often of you might have issues, don't think it would be super in depth but would be cool.
Korsbaek 1778 Posted July 26, 2013 This has been mentioned a million times before

liquidcactus 719 Posted July 27, 2013 As long as the weapon takes a long time before it starts to show the early signs of wear n tear and not as fast as fallouts weapons degrade system HA. I guess it would be nice if it was to reach detail the level of "environment sensitive" - e.g - If you hang out in the swamps alot playing a harmonica your weapons would get dirty fast/ + higher % failure rate depending on depth of the marsh to player oppose to forest dweller blah blah you get my drift. harmonica now theres an idea aswell... (im sure its been mentioned somewhere at sometime ^_^)

If a topic is confirmed and you aren't bringing anything new to the conversation, there's no point in bringing it to the table.

LancerG2 369 Posted July 27, 2013 Hello people, I had an idea. Typical M16 user cleans for about a few minutes after going into a dusty attic, then gets it jammed again. Repeat process. Typical AK user cleans for about a few minutes after getting the gun wet in rain, crawling though mud, letting the mud harden, hiding in sand and dust, getting blood all over it, dropping it into a river and have it lost for four minutes sumberged under the water until found, dropping it onto the mud and then getting into a decent two minute gunfight before heading back to camp. Repeat process. I would love this as a mechanic, being able to find durable guns that can really rough it and survive the torture test. This would be a great idea to add into the game. Never better than shoving some Russian Firearm covered in dirt and worms and shit into a the hands of somebody who uses that 5.56 automatic rifle designed for U.S troops. -Gews- 7443 Posted July 28, 2013 Guns should only break through user error, IMO. Stocks don't magically snap, you have to drop them. Your gun won't get muddy and wet unless you take it to a muddy and wet place. It will function fine if you keep it cleaned and lubed. Etc etc. Natural or automatic wearing out of parts should be beyond the scope of the game, IMO. Is anyone going to actually keep the same gun for two years of playing until some little spring starts wearing down? No.
LancerG2 369 Posted July 31, 2013 Hello people, I had an idea. What if you would have to oilCan the oil be resuable for you know what I mean? *Fap*. Seriously, not a bad idea.

Is anyone going to actually keep the same gun for two years of playing until some little spring starts wearing down? No. But it would be great if every weapon could keep data like how often it has been fired without cleaning, how often was it maintained, how good was the maintenance ( not just wipe over it with a cloth ), how long it was lying around in the water/dirt/mud, how well was it handled over months of gaming so that everyone who might find the gun or even take it from someones dead body had to deal with the problems the weapon had throughout it's life. This way maintenace would make more sense, otherwise it's just a gimmick if a weapon is picked up by a new player it is all resetted.
