Cap'n (DayZ) 1827 Posted July 24, 2013 Okay, so I've never really used PP because when I first joined ArmA everyone told me not to use post processing. Well, I decided to enjoy a few hours on Ultra settings(I usually play on High, but I'm almost always averaging 57 FPS in the woods and mid 40's to mid 30's in the city). So, I decided to jack up EVERYTHING. Including PP. And I thought it actually looks better with PP. Sure, it may be a bit blurry, but I turned it down to Normal and it looks pretty nice. The trees look fuller, lines and textures seem smoother, and even tracers look nicer(limited to arma). Anyways, what do you think? Do you use PP? Do you think the blurriness can be ignored? Do you think it looks better? Are you one of those assholes with really good PC's that play with everything on Low because you think you need the extra "frames"(I'm not a big fan of those). bfisher 561 Posted July 24, 2013 I turned off PP because it was so blurry that I thought I had glaucoma or something.
barrett_killz 229 Posted July 24, 2013 (edited) I had to turn it on along with FXAA at medium to increase my FPS and it worked. Am I the only one who LOVES the motion blur in shooters? It just looks so cool and EVEN at 15-20 FPS you don't feel the lag. EDIT: The bad thing with PP is that when you're running out of blood (around 3000-2000) your screen fades too often and you don't see anything. But it can be turned off really fast as well. Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted July 24, 2013 The PP looks really good. It only looks that way on good machines though. For most people it just turns into a slo mo blurry mess.

Mos1ey 6301 Posted July 24, 2013 Like Fraggle said - the motion blur is a mess unless you're running at decent frame rates. I usually play with post-process effects turned off because of the depth of field blur though. It makes no sense to blur out everything further than 100m, imagine trying to spot a sniper with PP effects enabled. Disabling PP effects also disables that low blood blur. St. Jimmy 1631 Posted July 24, 2013 Let's hope that in Standalone we have same sliders that Arma 3 has for all those PP effects. Only PP effect that I like is the rotational blur so I've that little bit in Arma 3.Usually people hate blur or get motion sickness out of it so that's the reason why everyone recommends to put it off. Also SSAO is a huge fps killer and you can see it well in Arma 3 because highest SSAO eats alone 20fps.
Cap'n (DayZ) 1827 Posted July 24, 2013 I still have everything but Post Processing(Normal) at High and I still average between 55 and 60 FPS in even Medium sized towns. And I have a pretty mid end(7870, 8320) rig, and with these settings it looks absolutely awesome. Also, I use MSAA instead of FXAA because I think MSAA looks better. fluxley 2228 Posted July 24, 2013 (edited) Thats what bugs me the most, i want the low blood blur effects, but not the rest of it. especially not bloom, bloody hate bloom. Edit: Just actually tried it, pp to very low just gives you the low blood blur effects. I've been missing out all this time, What a numpty.
