cumulative hearing loss

Recommended Posts

For realism... if you shoot a lot without hearing protection, you will start to lose hearing gradually.

And we would need one more item, hearing protection :D

Of course you lose more from a semiauto sniper rifle than from a bolt-action, more from a carbine than from a submachine gun, none from SD guns and so on.

no.

I just think stuff like this does not belong in video games period.

There are just some aspects of realism that cant be captured in a game.

It's captured in ACE (kinda sort of). I think it would be a good idea to have similar temporary hearing loss and high-pitched ringing after shooting loud guns or shooting a lot, it adds to the game.

yeah temporary would be okay for explosions or lots of shooting but nobody wants to play a game where you will go deaf until death. It's one of those realism aspects that would take much more away from the game than it would ever add.

I agree with this.

But losing your hearing altogether would imo be lame..

You can already simulate deafness in ACE, it's quite a good extra since it adds up to immersion. Although i don't think you will become deaf in an instant it should "hurt" you avatar a bit if you are a trigger happy player who like to empty a whole mag in 2 seconds or a full machine gun belt.

I think the OP implied temporary.

But yeah, firearms without ear protection are extremely unpleasant, it's not just the temporary deafness, it's actually painful.

Hello there

I do like the way A.C.E. implemented it, and for the mod it might slow down those who like to rambo.

The effects should be temporary, but still long lasting. not a 30 second effect. (depending on the weapons db)
