andrewmont 91 Posted July 6, 2013 I don't think I stand alone when I say that Day Z 1.7.7 is the best update yet to the mod and the main reason for this is the difficulty. Zombies were pathetic before, I've just came back to Day Z and I'm trying out all the maps I've missed - Namalsk and Taviana are 2 great maps but since the custom maps haven't got the latest Day Z version it shows the huge contrast and vanilla is my favourite because zombies actually feel like a part of the game now! Before you could run past them without a care and they were only really a threat when they bugged and glitched through walls etc.. It makes sense that you're infected as much as you are, if you watch any zombie film it's one scratch or one bite and you're a goner!I just hope that before they release this update they change it so that for example a scratch you can heal from by sterilisation or whatever but if you get damaged badly enough by zeds no amount of alcohol or food should help. Thought I'd try and put a post out there endorsing the improved zeds.
Skat3rat 1633 Posted July 6, 2013 Yeah I definitely love this new update. Makes it a lot more fun and challenging. Before this update PvP was the only real thing that gave anyone a challenge but now zombies are something to fear and watch out for.

m_mitchell 27 Posted July 6, 2013 (edited) But those aren't zombies as much as they are infected and we're immune so what are they infecting us with? Either way does this make the hackers good because they make the game even more difficult?I just hope that before they release this update they change it so that for example a scratch you can heal from by sterilisation or whatever but if you get damaged badly enough by zeds no amount of alcohol or food should help. Thought I'd try and put a post out there endorsing the improved zeds.I strongly agree with that. I feel it shouldn't be immediate and after every attack you should retreat to a safe house and treat your wounds. This way it isn't so your just getting infected and being forced to go balls deep in towns searching for antibiotics. thelonewarrior 886 Posted July 6, 2013 I agree, I like pvp.and pve and was glad for the new challengeIt had its bugs but 1.7.7 made it a nice new challenge, I just hope the next patch brings back some of this challenge as at the moment Zeds are too easy again
Korsbaek 1778 Posted July 6, 2013 Honestly i don't even think it's harder now.. I rarely get hit by zeds.I'm a very sneaky bandit :P

I saw it said somewhere saying something that rocket said you were immune or something buy I can't find any official stuff on it so I guess I might be wrong on that. I think that it should take skill and patience to not be seen by zombies but atm it's pretty much impossible.
sabre05 351 Posted July 7, 2013 Not to mention when you are crawling through... Lets say Elektro. So you're crawling through elektro not netting any agro, when you come to the pub, and you want to go in. When you get to the threshold of the door you stand up and start running instead of crawling indoors. This generally picks up unnecessary agro, which if you have no weapons spells the end of your life.
Dayzo 182 Posted July 7, 2013 I agree - personally I like the current zeds (they're easy to aggro but easy to lose), and don't have any problem with the infection rate.In fact the server I play on has been edited to make 95% of the zombies the viral type, to make it more difficult. It was the poor loot spawns which made it tedious for us, and especially the lack of antibiotics. Our players simply didn't want to scavenge through villages for two hours without the slightest reward. It got to the point where no-one could be bothered running to the next village, because they knew they wouldn't find what they needed. That has been fixed on our server by editing the current build (see sig), and we'll stick with that until the public release becomes balanced/fun again. I cruised through Elektro yesterday, hit the shops, the top of the hospital, the pub, the church and finally the firestation where i found an mp5sd. All the time drawing and losing aggro and not getting hit, infected or dying. The funny thing is the amount of people i am now seeing dead with only a weapon and no ammo..it really has skyrocketed . i don't think many people are adjusting to the new zeds very well at all. plexico 386 Posted July 8, 2013 I don't think they should make zombies harder until they fix the extreme glitchiness of them. They're still just a nuisance.
kander 80 Posted July 8, 2013 I'm loving the idea of infection. Problem is, it seems to have coincided with zeds being able to see you when you lie still, which is taking a massive amount of adapting to. I got so used to being able to lie there and let zeds walk past, but now they will see me whatever. This makes fighting zeds impossible and sneaking round them near impossible. I'm going to have to resort to PKing soon just to get the basic supplies necessary NEVER to have to go anywhere near a town or city!
Crazy one 124 Posted July 8, 2013 now zombies are something to fear and watch out for.Iv'e always regarded zombies as something to fear and watch out for from day 1 of playing this game, other players are the supporting cast/secondary problem to me, this patch has made it way better and more fun, more paranoia more challenging especially on servers i play that have 0 starting gear or just flares and a bandage.

kander 80 Posted July 10, 2013 (edited) So... Can zeds land head shots? I was going up the stairs in Cherno Fire Station last night, with some good gear and full health. Surprised a zed on the second floor, going up the stairs and ONE hit took of 2/3 of my health AND knocked my unconscious. By the time I came round and was even in a position to kill it I was down to about 10% health. One zed. One, single zed. I think it was regular variety as well.... colekern 1364 Posted July 18, 2013 The harder the better, yes... but there are other ways to make zombies harder. The infection is NOT fun whatsoever. It's a slow, annoying death. And with antibiotics suddenly disappearing from hospitals, it makes it practically impossible to heal yourself, meaning there's literally nothing you can do to save yourself. The new update also made life HORRIBLE for medics such as myself. I've even thought about shooting people with hopes that I'll find medical supplies somewhere. I mean really, the new update makes me want to shoot people, not team up to survive.
TheLastEmp 295 Posted July 18, 2013 (edited) Where does it say that we're immune? Day Z doesn't have a backstory.Obviously it doesn't make hackers good..zombies actually being a difficulty enemy makes the game better. Edit: :: Seperating quote from my post :: Rocket has stated in the past that they are not "undead" zombies. They are essentially "rage infected" zombies and survivors have survived because we ARE immune. The infection system is not supposed to be a threat of turning us in to a zombie, its a threat of dying, the same way Necrotizing Fasciitis can kill IRL from just a scratch if it's not treated with anti-biotics. We are immune to the "rage infection" but zombies are walking petri dishes of infectious diseases. Also, the SA will have a system for sterilizing and cleaning wounds before things get out of hand as a way of preventing infection. I agree that zombies need to be more difficult and infection is a nice addition to the mod, but the next time I get aggro'd and hit through a friggin wall I'm going to put my fist through my monitor :) Cheers!
