Visibility setting won't stay

Recommended Posts

I am trying to play DayZ at max visibility and every time I hit confirm and find a server, the visibility sets itself to 1000 instead of the 10000. And I can't change it in game for some reason. I have to always go to the main menu to change it. Any help? I am very lost. Thanks! :)

That's strange. However most if not all servers have locked visibility settings.

Well, I don't even need to be on a server. I change the setting, hit multiplayer then hit cancel and it brings me back to 1000 visibility. I am using DayZ commander if that helps. I also un installed and re installed both Arma's

Sounds like your .cfg files are set to Read-Only.

(Too exhausted to explain how to fix it at the moment. If somebody could do that, I would appreciate it.)

How do I change that?

Go to the .cfg file and adjust it

Your Config file is usually located in the following

XP: C:\documents and settings\user\<kmacthegreat>\My documents\ArmA 2

Vista: C:\users\<kmacthegreat>\documents\Arma 2

Windows 7: 1. C:\users\<kmacthegreat>\my documents\Arma 2

Well I didn't know what to change so I went into both ARMA .cfg files and changes the max frames ahead to 10000. Was that correct? If so, it didn't work.

The view distance is locked by the server at 1500 I believe. No matter what you change it to it will be locked. Do a search on DayZCommander for "view" and you might find a couple that have increased it.

Well I don't know if this helps, but this problem only occurs on DayZ. Not ARMA 2 or ARMA 2: OA

Yes, it's locked specifically on DayZ.

So no 10000 only 1500? That sucks. Thank you for the help though! :D

Well there are some servers that have increased it, probably not many though for performance and balance reasons.

Yeah, that would completely change the subject. Your files are fine.
