So zombies are just a nuisance again in 1.7.7.1

Recommended Posts

Agree, the zombies were fine, just their chance of giving an infection and knocking players over needed tweaking.

Lol, yeh, it must be the most annoying job in gaming.

I did just read that there's a bug in the hotfix so maybe I've been too hasty and they haven't been nerfed, time will tell.

What bug are you talking about?

Razor after realising that there is a bug in the Zed-attacking again:

:D

he has stated it in the .7.1 hotfix-topic in announcements that there is a bug in the attack-script or something that made them act like pussys again

I'll back that up. Razor stated in the 1.7.7.1 thread that the zombie nerf was unintentional.

We don't if you bother to read there's an error in 7.1. Take a look in your logs as zeds attack

I don't know the technicalities of it I was just following Razors responses here about the zeds being nerfed, looks like it may not be intentional which gives me hope :)

yeah ALPHAS is all new games problem

I liked old days better were devs created game as they wanted it to look like then made small demo of totally finished game for peoples to decide - they like it and want to buy it or NO

Now it looks more like this

day 1 devs - we have grate idea lets make super hard zombie game - ZOMBIE GAME Z

day 2 starting to develop / starting to advertise in all possible social networks

day 3 people totally like idea

day 4 people asking game to be created yesterday

day 5 devs releasing alpha

day 6 people totally like it / community start to grow

day 7 milions of kids entering community end start bitching that they want ponies and monkeys and Cinderellas + Mermaids

day 8 devs smell BIG $$$$ and removing zeds and giving to kids what they want

day 9 game released with rating 5+

Well you seem to be talking about games that are developed for sales. This is a free mod made by devs that work for free. Also, it has never been advertised, not once. Because it's a mod it will never be finished, it will just be constantly patched and evolve.

Apart from that I do see your point :/

I totally see this happen with dayz standalone, in the last interview rocket talked about dayz sa needs to be profitable, when in the begining he say he didint want to make a game for the masses and he didint needed to earn money with dayz, its so sad.

I thought its a platform to gain interest for Dayz SA - it is tool to grow community with potential costumers

No, it's just a free mod that became popular. The SA will be it's own thing and will succeed or fail based on it's own merits.

Being profitable and making a game for the masses are two very different things. There are many unique games aimed at niche markets that are profitable, Arma 2 was one of them, there are many more examples.

Turnover and profit are separate things. A game with a small team working on it does not need to make many sales compared to a a game like COD that has many millions of pounds invested in it each year. A small indie game can be profitable whilst still catering to the relatively small player-base they want to impress.

arma2 never was profitable until Dayz showed up. Armas old sister VBS was and is profitable

Oh god, well this is going waaaaay off topic. Of course the SA is a result of the mod. My point is that the mod was not created with the intention of making the SA, it's just nice that things have worked out that way due to popularity and without ANY advertising. The mod will continue to be a mod and as I said the SA will succeed or fail based on it's own merits regardless of what happens with the mod.

Ya the balance pendulum swings too far in either direction. 1.7.7introduced a lot of new dangers at once. Wild spawns, hit range increases for Zs, Diseases, Cutbacks on Antibiotics, fewer weapons, Z pathfinding, etc, etc,. It ramped the difficulty level up steeply

While I love the changes, it seemed to have been a bit too much in one go. A slightly more measured release with 4 or 5 difficulty changes would have been nice. I say keep it at the 1.7.7, increase AB chance, or reduce infection rate and maybe the keeping ability to lose Zs while running through bushes/trees. would have been al the tweaks neccessary to bring the mod back to a comfy playing level.

I still commend Razor & team for their work. The difficulty was a good thing. I plan on testing the hotfixed changes later today.

once 1.7.7 came out everyone went apeshit because it was TOO HARD, now the fix has only been out a day and people are already saying it's too easy?! make up your damn minds!

that the thing it wasnt too hard it was just boring.

some guy pops in i like it hardcore no this no that and ? thats a minority response and you dont cater to minority you cater to the majority if you want your project ot succeed.

Sadly i think the SA will take the same path with easy zombies, you just cant win against the masses rocket at first said that this game would be differente and would be hard unlike other games and that he didint care about profit, but in e3 he talked about that the game has to make money so i see the sa being a fail for me because i want hard zombies.

In the SA a zombie wont be hard bit at the mo we face 25/30 zombies at most in the SA it will be more a LOT more could be 70 /80 /90 who knows

plus they will follow you properly no zig zaging using, fences wont work as well as they pathfind around them better (watch the e3 vids), and they wont get stuck with trees and bushes (as much)

plus they can run indoors so no escape there

and they will be in the woods and away from the citys and towns

and they can hit you on the run, they no longer have to stop to hit you

in shot 1 or 2 zombies no problem but you woult be faceing 1 or 2 often

zombies in the sa will be hard but in the way that they are ment to be hard because of NUMBERS

dean said he wanted dayZ to be expensive because they need money to fund the huge project that the tiny team has ahead of them. they need that money. dean isn't the kind of person who would make a game just for the money, he's clearly putting his heart and soul into the project and i think he deserves more respect for that. also, have you even watched many of the videos? the main thing he talks about regarding zombies is that they were too easy in the mod and needed to be edited heavily to work properly. he also mentions numerous times that he is not all that fussed about dayZ appealing to the masses, but more to the hardcore players like us, that want a challenge. have more faith in the man, he knows what we want.

he knows what we want.

in the first interviews there was words like "anti-game", "Fun - is cheap feeling", "it is exclusive for PC"

in latest interviews we hearing totally opposite - so its clearly shows that money do what it do

Anyone that thinks the game (SA) doesn't need to be profitable or that Rocket doesn't want it to make money is naive, that's what game companies do, the people working on these games don't do it for free (apart from the mod, those devs do work for free). Making a game for a mass market is however an entirely different thing. They are not mutually exclusive, you can appeal to a niche audience and make money, lots of it. Many game companies have existed for years doing this by appealing to their specific markets and doing it well.

Anyhoo, it's all slightly off topic :/
