Make weapons take up different amounts of slots in a backpack.

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm not sure if this has been suggested before, but I have not seen it nor heard it suggested. This would be for both the SA and the mod. As has already been confirmed for the SA, there will be a Mosin Nagant and a Ruger 10/22 at launch (among other weapons). Now obviously (if you've ever seen these weapons in real life) the 10/22 is quite a bit smaller than the Mosin. It would make more sense if it took up fewer slots in a backpack. I'm not sure how hard this would be, but it seems like it wouldn't be too difficult.

Yeah a pistol could probably fit into the pocket of your jeans, while a Mosin would not. I will go outside and tested my theory by trying to fit a large stick into my pocket.

My hypothesis was correct. The stick didn't fit and it broke my pocket. I am going to the store to get new pants now. Brb

Some select few rifles will, but not many. In real life, I can put a mosin on the side of my pack and run it behind the compression straps. Takes up very little of storage space.

Rifles shouldn't even fit in a backpack.

I agree except in certain cases, as Mick17 said.

Ok.....depends on the size of you pack...if it's rifle sized then yes. There was/is only one pack in DayZ that could fit a medium rifle height wise with a portion of the barrel sticking out, but not a huge sniper rifle.

Maybe, there should be an extra weaponslot attached to every bigger bagpack, making it possible to hang a rifle on the side of it. Thats an easy solution if there really is the need of carrying more weapons. I always found it nice to be able to switch between AK and crossbow or just to carry a weapon for a friend. Eventually the bagpacks should be smaller then.

lol, op is stupid

hi devteam

plz make it so i can put m249 machinegun into my trouser pockets

thanks

on a serious note, i'm going to go ahead and assume the dev team are going to make sure that weapons do not follow a generic slot-size.

Mosin Nagant is one long rifle, but 10/22 is not that short compared to actual SBR weapons, it has a 18 inch barrel. If the weight system is implemented, 10/22 could be a long, but a very light rifle.

Way to twist words. That's not at all what I said. Have you ever even shot a firearm in real life? In-case you don't play the mod you already can stick an M249 in your backpack. I never heard anything about them changing that, so therefore I thought they could make it a bit more realistic.

This I am aware of but out of all civilian non-SBR weapons (other than handguns of course) the 10/22 is one of the smallest. Except for bullpups, which can be about 18" long overall with an 18" barrel. And from what I understand from what Rocket is saying, they are mostly focusing on civilian weapons (Mosin, Lee Enfield, Mauser, 10/22, one of the CZ pistols). There still will be Military weapons, but I get the impression they will be much harder to get than in the mod. Even here in America, when compared to non-SBR's, there isn't that many SBR's around. Unless you count the Military and Law Enforcement's weapons.

Normal Ruger 10/22 is 37 inches long, now here's some of the weapons that are from the game:

Bizon PP-19: 26 in (Unsuppressed)

AKS-74U: 29 in

It is not smaller than those two for example.. This will turn the conversation to an argument, but that was a fact. I'm bailing at this point.

I agree except for the Bizon PP-19 isn't something I would consider a civilian weapon. Nor is the AKS-74U. Out of all the civilian weapons in the game it's probably the smallest and shortest.
