Suggestion : Simulation Game Mode

Recommended Posts

DayZ needs to be an actual zombie apocalypse... I have been doing some thinking and while losing your gear may seem like a bad enough penalty, it just isn't

good enough. People kill on sight because it's easy, and less regret comes with the territory opposed to actually killing someone IRL.

My thought is if you die you get a temporary ban.. But implementing that in vanilla dayz would make the people who like their hands being held, pissed.

So put it in a separate game mode.

My Ideas Is This :

If they die they get a one week "BAN" from the simulation game mode.

This ( in theory ) will cut back the KOS and actually make people work as a team, it will also make players be more careful of their decisions.

What happens if you die because of a bug or a kid using hacker scripts?? Wouldnt this also just encourage more KoS ? If some kid knew he was going to basically stop you playing fora week surely he's going to go out of his way to ruin your week...

Also think what it would do to the server attendances...... Some people would be put off because server attendances were down simply because people COULDNT play.

Also practically how would you host two different modes of the game? Different servers?

I get what you are trying to go for but I dont think this is a viable solution, sorry.

This has been discussed many a time.

Box hits the nail on the head I'm afraid......

Why is everyone suggesting this? I've seen posts like this so many times.

Getting banned for dying doesn't simulate anything. If you want it to be oh so realistic, why don't they just make a script that autobans your CD key when you die. And this won't make people team together; if it had any chance of killing me, I would shoot the living shit out of it.

Plus, what would it be like, if you're out having a good time with your friends, and you die.

"Oh, well I'll respawn and come back. Oh wait, I'm banned for a fucking week"

No thank you.

You are right about hackers, but the keyword of the game mode is "SIMULATION". So if the servers are low on people because people died, wouldn't that sound JUST like

the zombie apocalypse?

IRL people don't spawn... It is that simple. I also never said that KOS would be removed completely.. Of course there will be psychopaths that thrive off the suffering of others ( like a real zombie apocalypse )

No.. You just go and play on vanilla DayZ servers until the week is up.

In a real zombie apocalypse you would be with your friends in family, and then a bullet zips through your head

or a zombie mauls you. It's just how a zombie apocalypse would work...

But banning your CD key does nothing. It's just stupid.

Sure, this is a simulator, but BANNING your CD key for a week will not happen, that's just taking it too far. What would livestreamers and regular uploaders to YouTube do?

Nobody would play that.

permadeath yes! but hardcore permadeath like this is just an arrow in one's own knee ;). I would try to approach this problem in a different way:

every form of content distracts a bit from KoS i guess.

make survival really tough: wounds are serious threats, illnesses are hard to treat and cure, desperately search for food and water, add stamina and weight

make zeds really a threat: so you at all cost have to avoid or outmaneuver them, make no noise, sneak and be a shadow

make life worth living: soft skills? hard permadeath? permanent scars?

i would suggest to merge this one with that one, as they are fairly similar:

Who said anything about banning CD keys? I talking about this being implemented on standalone... I am sure they can put a timer on the "DAYZ SIMULATION" mode button for a week.

There is a reason I quoted the word "ban" in my posts.

but to be honest, who would deliberately play the "simulation mode" just to be locked away for several days when killed. some masochists, maybe but this would just not going to work imho. it would maybe for some weeks because of the initial curiosity.

That doesn't justify anything. It's the same as banning you for a week.

Pointless. People come to play DayZ, they don't come to get "banned" for a week when they die.

Plus, how pissed would you be if you load in, run to a barn, and die.

I understand what you are saying but at some point you have to recognise its not a simulation but a game, it actually has to be fun for people to play it. Perhaps you could set a server to impliment your personal vision, but i suspect it would not be very fun...

Its just a game.

I feel like you are completely misreading this suggestion to be honest.

Here is how the main menu would work :

DAYZ

PLAY

SIMULATION MODE---------------------------> [DISCLAIMER WARNING PLAYERS OF THE RISK]----AFTER DEATH---->[You have been killed and must wait one week before playing simulaiton mode. You may play regular] [CHANGE SERVER [Dayz in the mean-time ]

OPTIONS

EXIT

vMain Menu AFTER simulation deathv

DAYZ

PLAY

Simulation Mod [72:23:12 REMAINING]

CHANGE SERVER

OPTIONS

EXIT

This would be something that only a hand full of people want.

Some one should make a script that does this for like one server so no one can complain then you would only use this if you really want to.

but I don,t know if you can do that and I don,t like the sound of this and I would not play on a server like this.

but why would you play the simulation mode in the first place? ;) there is a flaw in your argument ;). but i have an idea: adding unique loot only available on "simulation mode"-servers, Dean just recently said they are tweaking the spawning mechanism so they could do things like these eventually. e.g. spawn a rare item for just one day. or even just one item at all..

Now you have some players who would really be interested in this game mode ;)

I fully understand. But no-one will host servers like this. If something happens (e.g. large firefight), boom, there goes half your playerbase for a week.

None of these mad cap schemes work.

Nothing will change, ever, until they make the game like this: You fire a bullet, and 50-60 zombies minimum come after you from as far away as the shot is audible. That may or may not ever come to be.

I haven't even played 1.7.7 yet but already am reading much complaining about Zombies being too hard now.

Actually, with some changes this would be great. For example, not one week ban, but one hour. This would stop all the fresh spawns who attack everyone on sight because they have nothing to lose. Also, we could have hardcore (not simulation) servers and normal ones.

the big problem is there would be no sever using it sever owners WANT PEOPLE TO PLAY THERE, kicking them after they die once is not a good move

Looking forward to that, I haven't had the time to play the new update yet but I'm always down for something other than constant murders all across the map, at least for a change of pace. I think the point when a live player is less dangerous than the horde of zombies that would come at the sound of you killing him, is the point where things will get interesting.

lol....

wait one week if you get killed...

i have trouble understanding why this would make KOS better?

i personally would kill everyone in fear of having to wait a week. (or w/e time)

there are other ways to reward people for playing more safe.

like skills you slowly pick up and are reset upon death. (That don't affect combat)

i give this suggestion 2 thumbs down.

sorry.

i just don't see how making people wait will be better the KOS situation.

-off topic; KOS topic i think is a drag, people will do it to the end of time..... get that through your head. take it into consideration before interacting with players or running around like a chicken with his head cut off.
