Underground Bases....?

Recommended Posts

R there going to be tunnels? I would like to fortify the two ends of a tunnel and make a tolls/base post... Be your frienly apocalypse troll :)

As for underground bases, it should take a loooong time to complete, while ur exposed, making lots of noise and agroing all kinds of zs. By the time ur done, most everybody playing should know what u 've been up to. Come for a vist, drop a grenade or 5 down the hatch. Perhaps be able to empty fuel down there and light them up?

PS- The surrounding land would look kaka after such works. Perhaps landscape sculptors/gardeners provide essential skills in an apocalypse...

When I think of an "Underground Base" I think of a Military Bunker with complex tunnels/hallways and multiple rooms, I'm against this idea.

In essence I think the so called "bases" should be more along the lines of an under-ground survival shelter, better than a tent and providing way more options for survival. Normally they are a small enough to hold 2 or 3 people, maybe more depending on the size and manpower needed to make one (some can also be made into 1 man shelters if need be).

Inside they can hold maybe 2 or 3 beds, a workbench, bookshelf, food storage box and so on.

Some examples:

What about taking over pre-existing buildings? It would be a step safer than camps, but still not 100% safe.

Both zombies and players would be able to break down the barricaded doors and windows.

Using pre-existing structures would in my opinion be a lot better and realistic than digging or building a base from nothing and would probably help with lag issues etc.

Draco, the pictures you posted are very interesting and if the proposed bases were similar to this it would definitely be an improvement over what I had envisioned in my mind. However the only reason I say this is because in all those picture there is a noticeable amount of above ground building material. But wouldn't this cause the same lag issues that stem from having an above ground base in the first place?

I have never witnessed anyone build a trading post in any server ever

people have tried. ive seen it. but a hacker or some asshole always have to ruin it. those are the main issues with trading. no trust. no reason to trust.

i'm an advocate of fortifications. using existing places and patch them up to a bastion of last humanity.

i mean underground??! I would only be ok with that if they'd implement whole sewer systems or old bunker facilities. but i really dislike the idea of instances..

having some sort of safe place to hoard supplies without the dangers of the outside world would imo be bad.

hidden places however would be the option!

I do not like the idea of *bases* entirely.

Define base. Me and my group live near one tent eating a single can of beans. Does that mean you hate us?

No, I said further down on the first page that I do not like bases but I like *camps*, which is what you live at.

I like bases/camps but ones above ground that people can still break into if they are tactical enough...i don't think underground bases would be a good add like said above it would be very hard for people to raid, and if you can't raid someone's base one way or another the game would get boring :)
