Skin loader in DayZ

So this is an addin that will only effect your initial starting clothes when you first spawn, with the game you should get a skin loader where you can download a template of the clothes that you start with and then you can manipulate it so you can have different designs like patterns, images or anything else on it, provided that it fits parameters (not sure if thats the right word) of the file so for example on a shirt if you had a design that was over .....kb in file size it would fail to upload and if the skin loader detected that the skin that was being uploaded had pixels that were outside the perimeter of the item being edited then it would again, fail the upload, here is a picture example as I cant explain it that well...

So the an example i could compare with would be a MC skin editor so i will reference this and another way i found.

so here is the MC skin editor, you can see that if the file was saved and uploaded it would work fine as it fits the shape, scale and whatever else. The requirements are all met.

If a pixel of for the sake of scale Pixels were added that overlapped the boundaries of the template it upload would fail.

so with a game like DayZ where it is more realistic than Minecraft if I were to take a template of a shirt and use this as the template given by the Devs of DayZ

Anything inside those lines would upload fine, but if I were to upload a file that looked like this -----------> post-161749-0-94808000-1370565328_thumb.

The front would be acceptable as the pixels meet the requirement, but the back would fail as it is larger than the set requirement.

This post may be a bit random but I felt like I couldnt explain the idea properly without examples to look at..... Thanks for reading, what do you think?

I'm not sure if this would work, the character model in DayZ has WAY more polygons than a character model in Minecraft. I don't think it would be as simple as going into paint for twenty minutes and coming out with a brand new, unique skin. I think I may have heard something about custom skins in DayZ (source needed) but they would probably only be made by experienced people and downloaded rather than made custom by anyone.

I'm not sure if this would work, the character model in DayZ has WAY more polygons than a character model in Minecraft. I know the DayZ use more polygons, I just used that as an example which some people would be familiar with, which is why I Gave the example of the shirt as that would be a more likely solution.

I think anyone could upload a skin, but at first it could only be simple skins like importing an image to go on the front or back, doing the arms would probably be too hard for allot of people, changing the color would be easy too do also, I reckon it would be a pretty easy thing to do, as long as the parts of the clothes that are being edited are only the flatter parts like the front and the back and not the side.

I do see your point thou, for an application like this you would need more advanced editing software, instead of paint you would need something more like photoshop...

Thing is nobody else will see your skin anyway unless it is uploaded to the server or the particular file shared between players.

i thought i mentioned the uploading part, my bad :(

The file will be uploaded on the DayZ website so it will be linked to your account no matter what server you go on. think of it as how the MC skins work.

I don;t do MC :) but in flying simulators we have the simple option of skins off or on in MP mode. Mostly people have them off because you get the odd idiot with a dick on his wing or whatever. I would imagine it would be same if custom skins were a goer in dayz ..i am sure there would be a lot of good ones but the old time to penis would be short indeed. :)

I can see it clearly, skin coloured undies with a massive set of nuts painted on. Scary shit when surprised in the woods.

Not if the custom texture was made up of already existing textures. Like for instance made in an editor with a library of textures to choose from which everybody has installed. It would limit your creativity but that would get rid of the problem of having to download everybody's custom skins

Good idea in theory but it wouldn't work too well.

Too many naked people, clowns, strippers, prostitutes, troll skins, etc.

I think that is the type of freedom us players should have, and will make the game interesting and surprising. Stupid skins will obviously not go well with surviving so it will ballance itself out automatically

Like old mate in Jurassic park said..nature will find a way..there would be penis. On day one.

For sure there would also be some great creativity but the amount of hacking i would have to do every time i saw some 12 year old with a knob on him, my axe would be constantly blunt.

That is a very valid point, if the quality is going to suffer then it should not be done

I tried this but my face and arms are white and I could get in public hives.

Anyone know of a fix?

Arma II has something similar for clans implemented and it works in DayZ.

If you have a clan with a website, once they set up the permissions correctly you can display your clan Logo on your player's sleeve and vehicle. In DayZ, I have PCGN Armbands and a nice-looking PCGN logo on the side of my chopper whenever I fly around. These are also visible to all other players on any server.
