Imagine SA using the ArmA III engine

Recommended Posts

yes its worth buying if you want worse animations than we have in arma 2 worse heli copters worse everything . go buy it then when you relized what a epic waste of money it was come back and give me some beans.

not really bothered about the beans but just save your money its a mess and reason why most people are just playing arma 2 in the hope while we play this they actually make arma 3 a good game or sort it out.

Well shit son I really like Arma 3 its definitely not perfect but it will get a hell of a lot better once it moves out of alpha. My only complaint is the map is a little bland and not enough weapons and vehicles but those three will be fixed obviously

Edit: I can't count....

Hello there

When one says "engine" what are folks referring to? If they mean the graphics and sound, IMHO, the SA may well be very close to A3 in looks/feel.

It's the functionality that one *doesn't* really see that will be the biggest change.

I would imagine the gfx will have a grimmer feel to them but dont expect the game to suddenly feel like LFD or Crysis.

IMHO there will be a definite Arma feel to the game, but for me, that's a plus.

CAVEAT: I could be utterly wrong.

ArmA3 is an FPS

DayZ Standalone is an MMO

I thought ARMA 3 is a military simulator that combines 3rd and 1st person views? FPS = First Person Shooter.

DayZ does fit as an MMO :)

Hello there

Folk will argue as to Arma's designation. Some will call it a sim, some an FPS. Regardless that's semantics and I think we really get R's point that there will be a distinct difference.

I do not particularly like the movement in that for what it is now.

this is the same for me, i really do not like the movement for ArmA 3 it's just a big turn off for me.

Seeing from the leaked footage it seems like arma 3 engine modified.

Whatever the SA will be epic anyway, i really dont care what they use for it.

I would not enjoy it using the Arma III engine, for I do not particularly like the movement in that for what it is now. However, the different stances are nice.

Honestly, I think ArmA 3 engine is better. No input lag movement, realistic movement and the sun flare is just amazing in Arma 3. I wouldn't mind having a sunny day on Chernarus with ArmA 3 sun ;)

Hello there

I dont understand the lack of love for the A3 engine. Personally (and I think that's the key word) I find it much improved.

I am bored of high temp climates though and would prefer somewhere a bit chillier.

I find the movement far better than clunky old A2, although its not perfect. Im not a fan of the "modern" gear and weaponry, but I simply use A2 content instead.

I dont see how its a consolised version though.

I cant understand how dayz and that bag of shit warz call themselves a mmo when there player cap is lower then like bf3 on pc and mount n blade. What I think a real mmo are games like wow runescape guildwars2 elder scrolls online etc with a huge map and player cap that higher then 300 atleast.

I think I remember Rocket saying that the engine was a combo between the good stuff from arma 2 & 3 and a lot of world of tanks and some custom work too

I think you mean Take on Helicopters, not world of tanks :D

An engine is like your car, you can modify it and upgrade it to fit the requirements of your game. When I look at what has been shown of DayZ you can see from a graphics perspective is shares some close ties with the arma engine in looks lighting etc but what is going on behind the scenes matches what you would expect from an mmo game designed specifically for DayZ rather than instances of DayZ mod being ported to arma3 engine as we see in videos. Well this is how I see it anyway. Instead of holding up the house and keep adding patches the foundations are now much stronger to take the weight of what this game will become.

Agreed its not a MMO even if DayZ hipsters want to call it MMO. Its nothing of Massive its just a server with a mission wich has no objective and save your progress to continue later. Even so the mod is good.

Hello there

Getting bogged down on pigeon holing the game into a traditional box is a little pointless. I couldn't care less if it's labelled as a sim/fps/mmo/small penguin etc.

I'll still be playing it.

i hope it doesnt do anything arma 3 it sucks ass.

When I bought arma 3 I was fully aware it was in an alpha state and I think people need to really get a grips on what an alpha is in the gaming industry. Its not often at all anyone external gets this type of access and I paid a really low price for a future fully fledged game. No halo alphas or cod alphas, maybe betas " ahm demos" but the doors are shut. More community input this way. Big updates are due once it hits beta status and I think E3 will show us military nuts the goodness.

Also bare this in mind for the standalone alpha. It's not going to be all fun and games. But it will make interesting times when you look back after 6 months or a year how things change. Just wish there was more patients in the world for results.

why does everyone assume that nobody knows what a alpha or beta is

i have tested games for close to 15 years and used to be a actual paid games tester  i still do test many games and i know plenty of devs aswell. so i fully understand what a alpha is thanks.

arma 3 is bad. its just like most modern gamess they trying to spoon feed you everything as if you dont know how to play or if you slightly retarded. this kills gaming and fun very quickly you need a bit of this and that either side. windows 8 generation of gamers tbh.
