simple matter is it wont be forced .

why because it would effect sales dramatically and thats why .

regardless of all the lalala people money wins everything.

so forcing people to play at certain settings doesnt happen in any game. game companies are struggling even on the very biggest games . so you think they are gunna risk there product not selling even more haha have a word with yourselves

Simple fix, make normal the new low .

Um are you sure it's a 240 you have? Because that card is from like 2008 or 2009. Not very good for gaming at all.

Then again, ArmA 2 is more CPU intensive.

How much can you buy the GTX 660 for?

You can find a good one for around 200 dollars.

Here, check this out. - http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=gtx+660&N=-1&isNodeId=1

The 660 isn't the greatest card, of course, so if you can spend some extra dosh go for a better card.

It. has. almost. no. performance. impact.

Don't know if I can make it any clearer to you. I'm not asking for 6km view distance, or 8x AA being forced. I am asking for crucial settings that can be game-changing, trees and grass, to be forced at decent quality so that you can actually use a tree to hide and don't die while under the impression that the grass you're sitting in would be visible on the other guy's screen.

PS: They did it before with view distance, and hopefully they'll do it again for trees and grass.

Completely agree there, It's annoying trying to be tactical and hide in a bush etc when on another players screen you're plain as day laid on a bare field.

My HD R6950 seems to be just under or near on a good match for the 660 but only in some areas. I run between 3.30ghz-4ghz using a i5 2500K processor and get on average 40fps in the woods and 20-25 in cities :(

I just built my 1st budget gaming pc and got a gtx 650 and it falls short by a good bit of course, they wouldn't do such a high requirement because it would leave 50% of the customers in the past, and $200+ is hard for a lot of people to spend for the 1 part so they can play a game

I've upgraded to a 670 w/ 3570K @4.5Ghz and an SSD a week ago and my old 9600gt could still run DayZ at a steady 40fps with some stuff on normal/high. Imo forcing graphic options that have an effect on gameplay is a must, but it must have as low of a performance hit as possible. Stuff like view distance has to have a max limit instead of a fixed setting and there need to be more specific settings for further optimization (i.e shadow view distance or resolution or simple solutions such as blending the player into a low-res bush if specific conditions are met i.e "wearing camo and prone" on low performance machines, if it is possible)

I wasn't sure what people were using, and with that other thread telling others to buy a new rig to play the game so that others could play at thier level. I wanted to know how many were actually using the higher stuff. As the majority of the thread seemed to have the good hardware. I made my fist post as neutral as possible in a way to see if they were being realistic. And as of this writing more players have or exceed the minimum they are asking for. But right now it still sits at just about half the players.

HD5750 here, would love a new card but I had to replace my CPU (core 2 duo) and Mobo first. I do farm hand work and drive an 80's model SUV that sucks fuel so its a little out of my budget atm.

That said, with the new CPU (FX-6300) im getting 30 give or take FPS in cherno, "shrug"

I hear ya, I need a CPU, but my mobo is at its upgrade limit so I need a new mobo, RAM and a CPU. Kinda hard to drop money for those three items all at once. Considering that the proc is about 350, the ram is about 100ish and the mobo is about 150.

460gtx and a 3 year old mobo here.

I've no intention to upgrade in the next six months/year or so. Hopefully I'll be able to play at a decent framerate.

My old GPU(5770) could chug along at a variable mix of High and Normal. I had a Core 2 Quad oc'ed to 3.2 ghz(I remember the days when 3ghz was a high clock speed). I just don't understand why people assume you need a monster PC to get past low settings. A 700$ PC will do fine on high provided you've picked the right parts.

My AMD upgrade wasn't that pricy actually, $250 for an MSI Mobo, 8Gb of Kingston ram, and an FX6300. The HDD I got bumped it to just above three bills.
