DazTroyer 227 Posted May 30, 2013 A few servers, Dayz forever Epoch, allow you to use this sound mod, sounds a whole lot better than the original Arma sounds. Any chance of having it in the standalone. For anyone interested in trying it, check your server allows it, you can get it with Playwithsix.
mrme 4 Posted May 30, 2013 Hey, I'v been watching DayZ vidios and I'v heard Sound Mods. Is there a way to install a DayZ sound mod if your running on DayZ Commander? Thanks
-Gews- 7443 Posted May 30, 2013 I like it, makes everything much better, some people have complained of log errors and performance issues but so far I haven't noticed the mod affecting my actual in-game performance...I hope the standalone will have better sounds, although I don't have too much hope... because I was not impressed with ArmA III's sounds either.Beautiful sounds are just as important as shiny graphics... Henryllex~ 407 Posted May 30, 2013 I hate arma3 sounds, the most realistic stock arma2 sound they have if the m107 which is 95% like is real life sound, jsrs makes everything better, the thing I don't like is the tin can trolling mod :/ i hope that we get new/better sounds, ak74/mp5 sounds like paintball guns atm
fluxley 2228 Posted May 30, 2013 (edited) @starwarzrulzThe most common used sound mod is JSRS, but the server has to support it or you wont be able to join. You have to install it manually if using DayZcommander,Or you could install using PlayWithSix as that has good support for installing Arma mods.I'd recommend first finding a good server that supports JSRS then check their website for installation guides as some servers will use different versions. OrLoK 16186 Posted May 30, 2013 Hello thereAs has been advised, whilst JSRS is fine and fun it will severely limit your list of playable servers and many servers that allow JSRS also allow all other mods and that leads to a higher number of scripters. Here's some info about command line params to manually load mods. There are also ways of enabling mods from withing A2 itself, Have a Google.http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma2:_Startup_ParametersRgdsLoK
Dayzo 182 Posted May 30, 2013 We can use JSRS v1.5 on the server I play on, but there are problems:· Some users experience massive frame-rate drop when helicopters fly over.· Most players do not like the ambient environment sounds. Eg wind, animals, footfalls.· Bottles and other thrown objects sometimes make explosion sounds. The work-around seems to be to load only the weapon sounds, using the default sounds for everything else.To do that find these six configuration files:jsrs_movement_c.pbo.JSRS15_V2.bisignjsrs_movement_c.pbojsrs_environment_c.pbo.JSRS15_V2.bisignjsrs_environment_c.pbojsrs_explosions_c.pbo.JSRS15_V2.bisignjsrs_explosions_c.pboAnd edit their filenames so they don't load.Eg. I add 'ignore' onto the end of mine like so:jsrs_movement_c.pbo.JSRS15_V2.bisign.IGNOREjsrs_movement_c.pbo.IGNOREjsrs_environment_c.pbo.JSRS15_V2.bisign.IGNOREjsrs_environment_c.pbo.IGNOREjsrs_explosions_c.pbo.JSRS15_V2.bisign.IGNOREjsrs_explosions_c.pbo.IGNOREBecause you're only preventing configuration files from loading, and not editing the actual PBO files, this still passes signature checking and anti-hack scripts, at least on that server. DazTroyer 227 Posted May 30, 2013 I can't say I've experienced any frame probs yet with JSRS enabled, also if you want to play other servers just unenable it in the Arma 2 menus. Changing the audio setting to 128 is also supposed to help with bugs and glitches. Easiest way to install is with Playwithsix, which is better than DayZcommander but the UI is not as simple to use BUT if I can anyone can :)
CS14 133 Posted May 31, 2013 I was actually looking into something like this the other day but I was wondering if public hives are able to support this or not. I would think that it would be just private hives, no?
