King Tubbs 224 Posted May 25, 2013 (edited) now don't get me wrong I love Dayzbut some people (a lot of them really) don't seem to get that the SA will be an alpha and not even an continuation of the mod BUT A WHOLE NEW GAME, a fresh startthis means that there is a good chance thatsevers may go downyou may have hardware clashes causing black/blue screensthere could be game breaking bugsthe game may straight up not work for a lot of peoplethe fact is that there is an 100% chance that some things for some people will fuck up altogether that is what happens on and alpha, that is the POINT of an alpha- to find and fix those problemsI just foresee Ronocrunch levels of noobish rage on the forums for the 1st few days, may-bee weeks Edited May 25, 2013 by King Tubbs
OrLoK 16185 Posted May 25, 2013 (edited) Hello thereExpectations of what the SA will be are going to be very different person to person. There *will* be a wailing and gnashing of teeth by many, it's inevitable. There will be accusations of lies, selling out and the great lizard conspiracy. IkaikaKekai 1957 Posted May 25, 2013 Probably, but I wont care, if the Alpha does 'suck', I will have still bought it, and will keep up on news and play test when they fix any major bugs. I know its not a completed game, I'm okay with that, it's pretty much been confirmed that it will be 'slightly worse' than the Mod currently stands at (pretty sure it was said vehicles and a lot of weapons will not be in the initial release). I won't care, Hell I haven't even TOUCHED the shortcut on my desktop to DayZ commander in the last couple months. I'll have other things to do, DayZ is not my only game, and I'm certain it won't be my last game either. This is the internet, people will find something to complain about if they receive a solid gold statue at absolutely no cost to them.
Rage VG 4033 Posted May 25, 2013 I think the amount of people who have impossible expectations that will whine will be evened out by the people with reasonable expectations that are overwhelmed at the sheer beauty of the game.
spacecow 2 Posted May 25, 2013 I guess the main problem with this model is that people seem to thread alpha as the game they paid for.But it just isn`t.The Game they paid for is not even released at this point.Because of this we will also see many threads that look something like that :I know this is an Alpha BUT why isn't this feature in yet? They said it would be there. You suck.So yeah you are perfectly right.People will be VERY disappointed especially during the Alpha.
colekern 1364 Posted May 25, 2013 (edited) I think that as long as Rocket and the team makes it very, very, EXTREMELY clear about what's in the game for the initial release, we should be okay (I'm talking like, five pop-ups telling you exactly what's in the game). I think Rocket has learned his lesson of what happens when you aren't clear about what's in the game after the whole WarZ fiasco.Obviously, people will still complain even if we do this, but at least their complaints will be unwarranted and easily refuted. PK Richie 507 Posted May 25, 2013 Have low expectations and then you can't be disappointed :)I remember Dayz in its early dayz (get it ? :P) when there were patches and updates every few dayz (again), anyways it'll be a bumpy ride but worth it.
Mos1ey 6301 Posted May 25, 2013 I think it will be made extremely clear that you are buying the game in it's alpha stage.
Mr.Mister 9 Posted May 26, 2013 Well, look at it this way,if no one buys alpha, there will be allot less information coming into the dev team. Meaning a longer time of the game being staged in Alpha. Its the players like you and I that will buy the game, report the problems, and get it out of Alpha as soon as possible. So sure Alpha may suck but if we dont do anything about it, its going to suck more for a longer period of time. :beans:
