6 New decayed Zeds ? that's against what rocket said

Recommended Posts

so in the changelog of the coming update it says:

* [NEW] - 6 New decayed Zeds - Harder to kill and Do more damage.

Don't get me wrong: I love new stuff. I love new zombies.

It's just this: Rocket clearly said numerous times, that the Z's are NOT dead, but just infected, still alive , people!

And i like that perspective.

So why the "decay" thing?

Also the harder to kill thing: i hope this doesn't mean it's something like the "only killed by headshot" thing.

that'S one of those annoying game-mechanics things.

They are not zombies by black magic.

they are not summoned walking dead.

They are people struck by a horrible disease.

People die when shot.

Zombies die the same way.

Take the same amount of damage.

Well don't get hung up on the wording. Rocket also said he'd like to see Zeds at different stages of the infection, so one could be quite newly infected and agile whilst one further along the infection cycle could be a shambling mess with bits falling off.

Should it not be the other way round though? A more decayed should be slower and easier to kill?

*snip

so what happens if you have a highly infectious and deadly disease? most likely you go through several stages until reaching destiny. and i guess you won't feel much healthier by the end... so decay makes perfect sense...

harder to kill...maybe "newly" infected meaning faster and maybe better cognitive aso abilites or just armoured military stuff

so just calm down and wait for the update

rocket has NOTHING to do with the mod now and has not for mounths

dayz mod is MILES away from what the SA will be and what rocket wanted

roket evewn removed zeds following you when they where out of sight for being "bloody stupid" but the mod team put it back to

frankly dayz mod is about 2 patches away from not being dayz at all

Well you could agrue that a person when shot may not die for some hours unless hit in a critical part like the heart. A shot to the gut may be so painful a person could not function, it may not kill you straight away. An infected person may have nerve/brain damage which stops them feeling pain allowing them to continue if not definitely dead.

The infection would quite likely decay the human body, if you are on a diet of human flesh and bullets.

Sounds cool. It's about time zombies join the party. Braiiiiiins! Really though, I for one would not mind if a new DayZ dawned "of the dead" instead of waiting until "28 Days Later" to face the same cannibal crowd.

A more decayed zombie has a lot less to hit, and the body is already adapted to the lack of liquid fluids required for survival.

That's what I was thinking. It goes against common movie "zombie" logic though.

And let's face it - "decayed zeds" are flat-out undead zombies, not infected. This is a huge undead zombie trope.

You can try to rationalize it, but in the end, decayed zeds are undead.

I would rather like the:

female Infected as females are weaker, weak infected

fat male same, weaker

trained athlete = stronger

policeman = same, stronger

soldier = trained, athletic, kinda strongest type.

ofc how long theyre infected should also come to effect (the longer the weaker if we say it like that)

you know what i mean at least, just all about the person the infected was before, ofc infected are stronger than normal humans, but their power should still be affected from how he was before as a human.

A bacterial infection could easily cause decay.

Except he does. He doesn't do any of the coding, or any of the bug fixing etc. But he gets the final say on what's allowed and what isn't. If there is a feature he doesn't want going into the mod, then it won't be put in.

They are not falling apart you need to stop getting caught up on the wording they are just normal zeds but more blood soaked, more face wounds and they look more dirty not so fine lined and pressed clothes as the old ones are. They just look like they have been around longer maybe survived a few attempts from survivors or even killed a few survivors.

As many of you pointed out without food/water the body would start to shut down not to mention cuts get infected start to rot. Find me a new word and ill replace i have said many times its not a finished change log its just whats being done added.

The zeds have been posted in the forum before take a look around and you will find.

They seem to me like special zombies. Every special zombie suggestion by the community has been hissed and spat at, why is this suddenly being accepted when its basically Origins?.

You wait `til Rocket hears about this. He specifically said he wants zeds to have pressed clothes.

No idea about Origins haven't played it but from what i told there zeds have no arm's and stuff. As for our zeds they are community ones so again no idea where you get your info from.

The ideas I've seen regarding "special" zeds that were strongly rejected by the community involved "exploding zeds" and "Spitters" etc. much like Left for Dead. This looks to me just like more variation of the basic zed so that every zed now won't be exactly the same and may present more of a challenge. People have been asking for zeds to be more of a threat for months.

This is what we are trying to provide but making all zeds just harder isn't the way to go.

Uhhhh.... Dude....

Try Gangrene... A particularly Nasty disease, resulting in the "Rotting" of flesh on a still living animal/person...

Seriously, see for yourself, theres even pics at the Bottom ( not for the weak of stomach )...

I agree, that's why adding variation could be the way forward. The fact is whenever ANY changes have been made to the mod (even by Rocket) there's always some that don't like it, it will always be that way, people don't like change. The fact is the mod has to evolve.

@King Tubbs - Do you not think if Rocket had carried on developing the mod he wouldn't have added variation to the zeds at some point? Of course he would. I can't stand this "but Rocket wouldn't have done it this way" etc. Let's not forget every single change Rocket made was met with criticism and also there was a VERY long gap between some updates/patches, including the ones that repeatedly broke the mod.

Let's be honest.. The infection in DayZ is no different to the one in The Walking Dead. The way it happens might be different (No one knows how it truely occured as far as I know..) but have you actually noticed that the Zed's are as decayed already as the ones in The Walking Dead? Just look at their faces..

They are just shells. Not people. Not dead. You can pull both their legs off, they will still come at you.

Remember one bullet to the head. Another to be sure. Double tap. ;)

I don't want Romero zombies, period. They're just not that scary anymore, especially since they're now an overused trope. The 28 days later zombies actually scare me, since they can actually catch up to you and tear your face into bite sized bits. And as long as zombies stay as they are now, I'm fine. Dean has pretty good ideas and I'm confident that he won't screw up. And about the infection, I've always assumed its a viral disease that is spread through the bloodstream. The reason why we're immune is because the virus can only attach and reproduce off of certain blood types, which also explains how we all share bloodbags.
