Schweitzerw 3 Posted May 8, 2013 I'm in a debate whether I should wait for the Day Z standalone, or whether I should just buy ARMA 2: Combined ops. Combined ops is only $20 and I really don't want to wait for the standalone.
Rage VG 4033 Posted May 8, 2013 If you really can't wait, then go ahead, as ArmA's a great game in itself. If you plan to ONLY play DayZ, I would recommend waiting as it'll be cheap.
Schweitzerw 3 Posted May 8, 2013 Well I play ARMA 2 and I would like to play Day Z.
Rage VG 4033 Posted May 8, 2013 Well, if you have ArmA II then you don't need to get Combined ops, just Operation Arrowhead.
Steak and Potatoes 13480 Posted May 8, 2013 I would suggest the purchase you can get up to speed on whats going on through the mod and better prepare for the standalone.
chakijz 174 Posted May 8, 2013 Just get it. We don't even know if the standalone is coming soon. It was supposed to come out in December..
Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted May 8, 2013 It was supposed to come out in December..Oh no you didn't! I just want to say you have the best sig in DayZ forum history.OP - It's your call but I'd say go for it if you have the money. If money's tight then maybe hold off but you may be waiting a while.
simfreek@hotmail.com 48 Posted May 8, 2013 In the last interview from March, Rocket said they wouldn't even review to see if SA was ready for alpha release till June. I'm expecting a october to December release date for the game.
Clay Zombeh 0 Posted May 9, 2013 Standalone, but this is the suggestions forum.
Ironhuge 69 Posted May 10, 2013 I'd say; buy the operation arrowhead mod and play DayzMod, we don't even know if the SA ever will be released anyway. In the last interview from March, Rocket said they wouldn't even review to see if SA was ready for alpha release till June. I'm expecting a october to December release date for the game.I'm pretty sure nothing will be released in June, without deadlines nothing is ever going to be ready - so my bet is that SA will be discarded.

How about a game on Steam up to the value of £25? Edited May 11, 2013 by Fraggle
Guest Posted May 11, 2013 I think you should get Combined ops. Arma is a great game in itself!
Firewarrior64 69 Posted May 11, 2013 I have thought about the same question, too :/I know that the standalone version might take a very long time (as someone said, october), but I am not sure if the dayZ mod is worth playing anymore.. I have heard of a lot of hackers and a load of bugs. could someone tell me if that is true?

I have heard of a lot of hackers and a load of bugs. could someone tell me if that is true?Hi there,I have only ever found 3 hackers and i've played for about 5-6 months. Whitelisted servers are no problem either.Bugs are becoming less and less with updates. People forget that not all players will buy the standalone. I won't be, i'll stick to the mod
Firewarrior64 69 Posted May 11, 2013 Okay, thank you... I'm gonna buy it then :D(although I feel bad for buying a game just for a mod because I don't like ArmA at all)

Firewarrior64 69 Posted May 11, 2013 Wait a second, there's something that just came to my mind: If you would want to snipe properly and be able to fly a helicopter, you would have to buy ArmA2... Because that's the only way to practise sniping and flying without wasting ammunition or risking a crash, or am I wrong?
spideroh1 0 Posted May 13, 2013 so i have a quick thought ......when will the stand alone be out.....also i would go for stand alone because you wouldnt have to pay as much :beans: :emptycan:

Rumor has it that something will be made known sometime next month. As far as I know this is just a rumor, as I am not on the dev team nor do I claim to know anyone on it either. So in my humble opinion go for Combined Ops or OP Arrowhead
