siew 53 Posted May 3, 2013 (edited) ^This. From the game footage the devs posted it looks like they have improved the graphics a bit but haven't completely changed them. I do know that they are remodeling some stuff so it will look better but I wouldn't expect a huge graphical change.volumetric clouds, new satelite imagery, improved lighting, new skeleton, mocap animations, new models and more...i dont know what huge means for you, for me its already a huge graphical change.and there may be more later ;) Edited May 3, 2013 by siew

DirtyCry 118 Posted May 3, 2013 (edited) ....- btw Source engine is the King out there.....Stop living in 2008....Source engine looks like shit and has not a single modern effect. There are at least 10 other engine which have more power in every way.Btw: Rocket said that every performance gain is used to make the visuals better. This means you will have the same performance like in dayz now but with better/more effects/texture/etc. Edited May 3, 2013 by DirtyCry
gregor (DayZ) 95 Posted May 3, 2013 In my opinion, DayZ' problems is not graphic, but the world itself - size, number of players etc(which affect gameplay more). From 'graphics' i would mention not rendering of grass on long distance and maybe clunky animations. But overall it isn't bad even now, imho.DayZ SA needs in future to step up on next level - and that's level of new possibilities of Outerra engine, PikkoServer etc.. If someone thinks, that players can't play because of Ping in one server, then look at Battleground Europe (WWIIOL), where people from whole world plays an one server, which is in USA Dallas (or Fort Worth). With decent infantry game mechanics. That's why i understand, why devs of SA don't bother to take Arma 3 engine etc. Firstlywe don't know, when A3 game will come out, and i suppose that building DayZ on the A3 engine would last till next year (at least). And second, currently they need speed, to not let yourself be left behind of many competitors. And grow flesh on the bones with SA. Then later they can already make game on absolutely new engine, suitable for this game, with absolutely new possibilities. OrLoK 16187 Posted May 3, 2013 Hello thereTKOH and a3 look far superior to A2 so I'd expect a little jump in looks. It stll will depend on your rig though to a degree.RgdsLoK

Cap'n (DayZ) 1827 Posted May 4, 2013 (edited) Well, the Source engine could not support an open world game because of the absolute shitty render distance. Plus, ArmA 2 can look very nice: If you turn up the graphics. So many people play on such low settings to get frames per second or because they have shitty computers, that it makes it very hard to enjoy some DayZ/ArmA 2 videos. High and Ultra settings look very nice, and High settings can be achieved with a middle end card(7770, 6870, GTX 650). I go looking for a decent benchmark video and all I find is someone playing DayZ on low settings with vegetation disabled. For a tactical "edge". Bull. Shit. But, seeing as they're using a new lighting engine and higher fidelity character textures, we can all enjoy the standalones IMPROVED graphics. Plus, no more blocky hands. I'm not the only person bothered by this, right? Edited May 4, 2013 by Cap'n
colekern 1364 Posted May 4, 2013 In my opinion, the source engine looks good for how well it runs on low-end systems. But I don't this is the look we want for DayZ. Grab a copy of the Arma 3 Alpha Lite and you'll see what it could look like.
