Hey guys.

I'm guessing you've all seen the new inventory system by now. If not, go here: http://dayzmod.com/f...entory +mock-up). It's pretty friggin' sweet, but there's one thing I've noticed: It could be awkward for controllers. I know that only a few people actually use controllers (I know I don't), but we do need to support the players that do. So, i made a small little mock-up really quick:

I changed the layout just a bit. Also, you'll notice that I added the button prompts to show you guys how it works.

To pick up an item, I press A. I would use the thumbstick to move the item around. Rather than being drag and drop like the PC version, I would just move them between slots. I could also use the thumbstick to move an item from the ground to my inventory.

Whenever I select an item, it would slightly rise up a little bit to make sure I know what item I have picked up. Example:

I would equip items using the x button. I would press Y to add it to the hotbar, and I would open and close containers (such as cloths or say, a toolbox) using , again, the Y button.

Also, the hotbar just isn't going to work on a controller. We would replace it with a radial menu, like this:

Yeah this is definitely worth my time looking through. Bohemia seems to have a weak point of integrating controller user interfaces. Definitely need to expand this if they're ever going to mention a possible console port depending on sales as well.

I'd like to see it mainly being specified to Xbox/PS controllers since they both have that center button (Home and XMB) to open up the radial menu

I also think the X button should have more features instead of equip like being able to consume or an option to highlight the item to be able to craft/combine them.

Other than that, I could see this being possible :)

Its just epic! The feature showed in the last picture must be able to be controlled with the mouse-wheel x))

The radial menu would be for the controllers only. You would use the 1,2,3, etc keys for a keyboard

While we are at it add autoaim deadzone, X for jump, Y for duck etc...

I've been thinking about doing something like that, but people could just map the buttons for themselves. AS for autoaim... no. It could give an unfair advantage.
