Would the community prefer the blood system we have now in Dayz or a more violent (not kill bill style or Django) game when shooting Zombies in the head or shooting other survivors?

I feel that the gore system in Arma 2 is weak compared to something along the lines of Gears of War 1. So my question is simple, keep it as it is or enhance it?

There's those that take the time to look at their victims (zombies or survivors) and other who shoot and move on. For the "shoot and move on" folks it doesn't really matter, it's all about efficiency. For those that like to see where the shots landed, I think the present system is sufficient.

What could be improved is the visual zombies pulling apart their victims. That would definitely make the game a bit more scary (especially if that victim is you!)

Personally, I would. I think it'd be a bit of a shame to not add a little more to the game, as they had the opportunity to completely reinvent DayZ with the Standalone. However, I'd not be surprised if it was too late to add this in now, without causing further delays to the game.

I do remember someone mentioning 'bloody trails for tracking' in the Suggestion subforum.. Perhaps when they start to address the potential addition of that feature, it'd allow a lot more talk on the addition of the ol' blood and guts..

There is a mod made for ArmA II which makes this aspect of the game pretty much realistic.. You shoot, your enemies skeleton gets destroyet. x)) And as for blood.. When you shoot to the head, you'll see a river of blood =)))

Here you can see an example for it. =)

I think this may be a bit far-fetched but bullet wounds would be a nice edition as instead of just getting a blood bag you would need a friend (or yourself perhaps) to actually pull the bullet out of you.

I mean would the average bandit risk going into firefights when they can likely die without a friend there to help them survive the night.

Regarding Zombies I think headshot animations would be a nice touch, as well as shooting off their legs so that they turn into crawlers.

It'd be great to wound a player and for him slowly escape as you take out a horde of Zombies that were attracted by the sound of shots. You would follow the tracks into a barn were he is sat up against the wall bleeding out. You could then perhaps take pity on him and save him. Save him and rob him or finish the deed by either shooting him or letting the zombies finish him off.

Ideally I want everything to feel "authentic"... if that means the back of someone's head exploding when I hit it with a 5.56, that's what I want.

Nope, you're not alone there, really hope the standalone gets improved gun sounds at some point.

The bleeding system right now could use improvement.

If you're bleeding out, you should leave a trail of blood around. Also, circumstantial things like decapitation could possibly happen (Such as hitting someone in the head with a hatchet blade), but I don't think it should go over the top like a lot of games do.

I wonder why this gore isn't in arma already...it is a simulator is it not? :)

So it should simulate you saying good bye to your entire leg when you get shot by a high powered rifle.

Isn't the .50 BMG banned on personnel use? Specifically with the M107.

Nope, not in standard form. Some people (even in the military) still propagate that though...

More recently, instructors at Marine Corps Recruiting Depot Parris Island and at The Basic School were teaching that the .50 caliber machinegun could not be used against ground forces. Instructors at the U.S. Army Infantry School, apparently laboring under the same impression, resolved it by teaching that:

"The .50 caliber machinegun can be used against enemy military equipment, but not personnel. So be sure to aim your .50 caliber machinegun at the enemy soldier's belt buckle."

The explosive Mk 211 round is questionable... they even did studies to see if the round would explode inside an enemy or after it exited. :P

Most nations using the round train their soldiers not to deploy the projectile against personnel, but in the heat of battle such regulations are easily overlooked. Also, many parties currently fielding the ammunition have no such regulations.

There's no prohibition in either of the Hague or Geneva Conventions against using high calibre weapons against infantry.

A version like VBS2 in DayZ would be amazing, I mean.. its a zombie game, which zombie game doesn't have gore? It could still be an option to turn down so there is little gore for the ones who don't like it. But most of the people would want more gore, just keep it realistic ;)

I really did want to suggest adding gore but then I feared of sounding like a deadbeat. Luckily people don't hate this Idea and I guess If peoples opinons change I guess I won't be the one critizied. Overall nice idea dude.

Beans for you yes? :beans:

I had to vote no.

I have seen to many war injuries. When you see some one being rolled past you in a wheel barrel holding his intestants in his hands with the rest of his inerds in the barrel around him screaming in pain over each bump the thing went over or the brains of a crew chief splatterd all over the deck from when a spinning rotor struck his head and his body is there on the ground with the bottom half of his skull this attached to his neck or even... never mind, I'm not getting into the stories. I don't want that kind of detail that it brings up those kinds of memories when I am playing a game for entertainment.

I am all about realisim. Hunting animals. Needing certain stuff to get others things going. Using the stars at night to find your way. But the point where peoples entrails are hanging out, I could do with out.
