Death by hackers?

Recommended Posts

So i find myself having nothing to do since i just died five minutes ago and lost pretty much all my high end loot(M107, NVG, GPS).

I was walking with my survivor/hero character along green mountain in a lonely field with all my gear when i spot a helicopter crash. My immediate reaction is delight :D since i had'nt seen a crashed chopper for months now, i run down to it and begin to scavenge for loot. i find some pretty high end stuff and search for about five minutes sorting the things in my small acu backpack. Out of the blue the helicopter crash disappears while i am prone on one side checking my bag and it turns out there is a ghillie suited guy on the other side. I was fully unaware of this because i heard no footsteps or saw anything(remember this is an open field) and the guy was literally 5 feet from where i lay. I immediately take it to the chest from his LMG without no time to react at all.

Raging at my loss i respawn on the coast in the same server only to walk five steps and die from a hidden assailant with the exact same gun which killed me at the chopper crash, i know because it was the exact same sound. This happens one more time as i now respawn at cap golova, my death and 2 respawns occurred within the time spawn of 1 minute. Now i note something very peculiar; the server when i joined had 25 or so players in it when i left i noticed hardly less than 7 people were left.

Now this leads me to believe this was a hacker teleporting to me and killing me, i dont even believe my corpse and the crash site were looted. Everything seems to corroborate with my theory, the low population servers were others rage quitting, the teleporting next to me when i didnt hear or see shit and i consider myself a player very aware of my situation, my TWO apparant deaths by the same gun within 5 seconds of respawning (i left the server after that).

In conclusion this was a bullshit experience on a supposedly 'safe' and 'anti-hack' server with admins online. Fuck you to the hacker and fuck this unstable mod, i wasted so much work on that character to some teleporting POS in the middle of nowhere. I will minimize my time from now on on dayz mod as a troll bandit as an outlet for my frustration, and wait patiently with eagerness for the standalone before i set foot in chernarus as a survivor again.

Good work, there isn't a million of these threads about people whinging they lost their gear to hackers / bandits. I would welcome death after getting an AS50 and all the end game gear, theres nothing left to do.

See you in the yard!

I know the feeling, I got thunder domed with gear i'd had for many months, shortly after the combat logging prevention was implemented (Grrr). But, it is a game and you'll get over it just as I have.

Welcome to DayZ, get white listed, stop crying

inb4yard

Is this the typical specimen of the dayz community??

An adolescent dubbing every post he comes across as 'crying' when this is so clearly a narrative of the false sense of security a 'safe anti hack' server potrays, with no emotion written into the post (probably without even reading it) and using pop online forum culture phrases 'inb4yard' to make an arbitrary statement that identifies his presence on the forum to others?? might as well have said 'YOLO' or *trollface.jpg

You are a pathetic example of a community riddled full of your kind.

I have its just that i feel cheated by a server advertised as 'safe' which is an obvious lie >:( and combat logging just press alt+f4, still works.

Well, after hearing this so many times you stop caring, I was once too with this frame of thought then I woke up, its just a game, as for me being pathetic, there a many people on this site that will contest that, and " my kind " sounds kinda racist =P

Isn't it also kinda pathetic to get killed in a videogame then go onto a forum to tell your story and vent, like a small child throwing a tantrum after they drop their ice cream.

Yes. Stay off public hive servers and avoid shady private hives.

That said, you made some other mistakes that would have gotten you killed most of the time. Don't "walk" or even run in an open field. Use cover. Don't hang around a chopper crash for any amount of time.

First of all pokerguy10: Dude just calm down, one reason why i don't get all angry about hackers is because thats their only goal to troll. And no the people didn't quit cause of the hacker the hacker was on the server because of the low population. Admins tend to watch the servers when most peoples are online because in the past the hackers went to those where the most people were playing. And now it's the opposite they go to those server where less people are playing cause they know the admins are not online at the time.

Instead pitty those script kiddies and the next time try to capture him doing it. it's pretty easy just call him out in chat and he will show you what he can do and you might even get his ingame name.

I can understand the OPs point. Since DayZ is ought to be a survival game, it's quite odd to realize that you won't survive, doesn't matter how good you are. If this is the accepted way of the game, then don't call it survival game, call it a looting game.

Shit happens and nobody lives forever. Surviving is just prolonging your inevitable death, which can come at any time in any form. I kind of liked the premise of Project Zomboid, that you have already died and you playing the game is just telling the story. "These are the end-times. There was no hope of survival. This is how you died.". I like to think this could be applied to DayZ as well.

I believe you had fun working so much on that character. Damn he died by hacker. The keyword for dayz is "whitelist servers". Start again... before you do so, search this forum for a nice one with active admins. And yes, sometimes I think also some posts should not be so anger.

OP,

You have to adapt to the average player level of attention, intelligence and maturity! :D

Expect the usual collection of "qq-er"/crybaby/whiner/.. and the usual recommendation "go play hello kitty" etc

Best to Forget public servers, go private (no need to go whitelisted, I have seen a private server hacked only once in months).

Come on folks, don't be too hard, the game wants to be taken serious. It's advertised as survival game, it has some stats on iths website, which are supposed to mean sth. For most of us here it's just old news that cheater basically screw up the whole game. So after the 3rd time killed this way, we probably accepted it to a certain extent.

But this doesn't change the fact, that other, maybe new player may still be very pissed.

@OP

There's nothing you can really do about, it certainly is not the last time this happens. But you could try signing up for a white listed server. The very friendly reaction here is just because it really doesn't surprise anyone.

OP keep your head up, alot of us in the community have experienced similar instances in the past as you have displayed here. With that being said alot of players have moved to servers they have researched and know are secure to protect their characters. While it is unfortunate this happened to you and it can be a huge turn off for your first few months in game use it as ingame experience to help you in the future. I would highly suggest going through here http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/forum/64-private-hive-discussion/ and trying to find a server that is both close to you and offers good support to ensure things like this dont happen to you again.

I wish you better luck in the future with your dayz endeavours and dont take majority of the posts before me to harsh. It comes from alot of members 1. having experienced this already and 2. viewing many threads based around the same topic.

Have fun and dont give up on dayz yet it can only get better.

You're a tool for believing servers could be safe in the first place. Hackers can hit any server at any time, even a whitelisted private hive could be cheated on however the most likely place script kiddies will wreak havoc will be on public hives. They are just not to be trusted. Just because it says 'safe' doesn't mean shit, what are they gonna say no our server isn't safe from hackers?

I can't read eh? Well here's your OP summarized:

1. Just died lost a ton of good stuff

2. Story telling, hopes raised by chopper crash crushed to smithereens by hacker

3. More story telling, angry from death and getting spawn killed by hacker. People leave.

4. The guy teleporting to people and killing them must be a hacker!

5. I thought it was a safe server, fuck the hacker and this mod, wasted my time so now I will be a troll on DayZ.

Sorry if it came across as a whinging sob thread but come on man look at it, if you take out the first sentence of the last paragraph it is literally the definition of a 'rage quit from hacker' thread.

+ beans thats is a good idea lol.

@ faggotwithponyavatarabove

I was telling the story by recounting my experience with to illustrate my point that 'safe' is not. I have not raged, only given minimal descriptions of feelings at the end of this little story as is part of my narrative. Read a post in context and try to derive the purpose of a publicly accessible post, i expect no pity nor would i want any especially from the likes of you, though granted my purpose for posting may not seem clear due to the emphasis of my text but it still is there . Its almost like wait.. no it is like you are trying to defend some stupid point written in your post with no valid agrument to save youself some from the shame of looking like an idiot, at the expense of framing me as the run-of-the-mill qqijustdiedtohackerandlostmyloot post. Shame on you and you fail. gtfo.
