Having looked at all the new work being done on the Map with lots of Apartment Buildings being added , the small Supermarket/Stores currently just wont cut . Realistically their would be Shopping Centres or Malls.

A decent size Shopping Mall could be added , not too big. Mall could be used to get in quick, grab supplies and get out. Could be used to hold up for a few hours, or take it over just like in Dawn of the Dead.

Various different shops inside like a hardware store were you can craft different items.

2 or 3 Floors of Underground Car Park, spend time down there repairing that Vehicle, using parts from the Auto Store on Level 2.

The Mall could be a Vast place whilst its overall Footprint on the Map would be Small

So whats your thoughts ??

While I definitely think Chernarus could use more commercial business places, it's simply too rural of a country to make sense of a shopping mall.

The biggest cities (Cherno, Elektro, Stary etc.) aren't more than 5,000-10,000 in population which is comparative to medium sized Westernized towns.

While some sort of shopping center (maybe a large collection of stores or a strip mall) would be cool to have somewhere, a shopping mall just wouldn't make sense.

While this is true, also consider they could be making the cities more expansive, and therefore have more reason to have a large mall. Nothing for sure, but still, it's not out of the realm of possibility.

They could, but for the 60s and 70s soviet bloc styled buildings along with the heavy industrial style, it wouldn't make much sense to have a lot of 21st century 'modernization'.

However, I think a few skyscrapers (As tall or taller than the international hotel) would be nice, or at least the ability to explore the hotel itself.

Valid point, but you never know. They could have modernized cities as well. A lot is possible with the standalone.

Heck we definetley need big places to explore like this idea and other super structure complex(s), giant buildings and industrial/construction areas that you cant enter with less than a team of 4-5 other wise its suicide

Bigger supermarkets for major cities would make sense to me. A mall is a little too much.

Malls come in all Sizes, the amount of Apartment Blocks they are adding , as seen in the Dev Blogs, could easily support a Mall of some type

Seems more like something you'd create as a separate instance or something that would fit with a more western oriented map, which would be released months after the Standalone's success funded it.

Arma 2 is set in 2009. Not 1970. Dayz is set after the events of the arma campaign. (Presumeably) Therefore, Dayz is at the very least set in 2011, not 1970/80.

ArmA 2 is set in 2009, however it's also set in Chernarus with is set in 1960.

I know, what I meant was that most of the construction and architecture is from that time period. I was basically saying that I would like a few newer buildings put in but also taller ones reminiscent of the style of Chernarus.

Remember that not everywhere is always using the most modern things :P (North Korea still uses MIG-17s).

Still doesn't change the fact that unlike in the US a lot of old buildings like that still around in Europe/East Europe that are from that time. There are still a lot of soviet style living blocs around in former East Germany which will not go away that fast as you might think along with modern or modernized buildings. But in rural areas you will find a lot of "old style" buildings from the cold war. We even have buildings in West Germany from the time ( 1960s ) where a similar style of building was popluar.
