What is your favorite/best snipe (or kill in general)?

Recommended Posts

My most recent one;

I was on my home server with some of my teammates. Two of them had logged out near our base close to the Racetrack (Taviana), while I was on one of the tall buildings in the town of Metrovice. Since we were on TeamSpeak, the guys had noticed and told me that we were missing a good amount of our gear. Seconds later, they noticed the sound of a Huey starting up about 400 meters from their position out in the field, hidden by a forest. I immanently went to raise my M107. With only two mags left, I judged the distance from my current location being somewhere around 1,100 meters. As the heli was rising up into the air, my friends were already engaging the hostiles on the ground communicating the best they could.

The heli was raising it's altitude and was fairly close to beginning it's descent over the field and towards the ocean. It leaned forward to begin moving, I aligned my mil-dots set for the moving pilot seat, and introduced that I fired. About 2 seconds later a player was killed and the anticipation to see the body fall out of the cockpit was too much. As the heli had reached a speed around 200 KPH, it began tumbling towards the ground while I awaited the explosion. Nerdgasms had pronounced throughout the TS channel, and at that moment I said with anger, "FUCK, I WASN'T RECORDING".

TL;DR Shot a moving heli from over 1k away, everyone changed pants about it, I got mad because I didn't record it.

That's about it.

Sick and coughing near Stary, in the woods, surveyed the town with DMR, no zombies, seems empt - wait. Sneaky rifleman prone on hill near the electrical box. Quickly checked range, 850 meters, boom, hit, fountain of blood and a couple death messages, then a couple more rounds just to make sure.

A smidge below the top of the bottom post. Maybe a half-mil.

A guy in the Berezino apartment roofs, barely peaking out. Did it with a CZ550. I think it was 600 meters.

Sniped a guy with a winchester. Don't know how far away but pretty far. He was getting a chopper evacuation. Here's the clip...

That's about 170m give or take, which is quite impressive with the Winchester, especially a one-shot kill.

I was sitting in Castle Zub with some of my friends, we just fixed up a bus and a car, when i see something move across the field down in Mogilevka, i yell "survivor" into skype and one of my friends comes next to me with his rangefinder. I aimed down my AS50 and he said he was 1 kilometer away. i ranged in and followed him, he was running away from zombies. I aimed into his walkpath and shot, about 1 second later i see a bloodfountain comming from his hip and he collapses. +1 murder on my score. All hell broke loose in Skype and we sent one of us to loot that poor bugger, he had NVGs, GPS and all that good shit. I was the hero of the group for that night.

1,000 meter shot. It was with an M107 so it wasn't all impressive but the guy was climbing down a ladder so it was kind of a hard shot. My other would have to be a 400 meter head shot with my lee enfield. The target was running and I hit him with my first shot so I think that was fairly good too.

My favorite? Well, it's not my best, but it's the most memorable... He he.

So, I had spawned a couple of hours ago and nabbed myself a nice CZ550 and an AKM. I was repairing an abandoned SUV (wtf?) when I looked at side chat. Hmm, Demon and Ethan, it seemed, were talking about meeting together in Elektro. I considered stalking them for a moment, but then they asked if I wanted to come . (HOW DID THEY KNOW I WAS AT THE FIRESTATION???) I agreed, and hurriedly finished the SUV and rolled it up on top of the north hill. I posted up, and watched Elektro. I waited. Noticing the dinnerbell had been rung, and finding it irressitable, I found the pair. They actually had a really good bit o' gear. I saw an M4A3 once they came closer, and the beauty of a CZ550. MORE AMMO! How lucky was that? My second favorite assault rifle, and my current sniper rifle, also one of my favorites! I spied a good sized backpack on each, and imagined in delight the golden treasure within...

Anyway, they went to the firestation I had occupied only a half hour ago. Being fools, they immediately got into a heavy firefight with zombies, as they could not even lose the zombies they took from Electro. I needed a face palm anmiation. However however however, they did some smart things that made them actually seem human. For one, they lost the zombies after a while. Secondly, once they started moving to the West hill, they split up. One of them went before the other, and they waited until they were both together to continue once they were at the treeline. They never went ten metres near each other. I was impressed. I subsequently hiked down the North Hill, and started the very slow crawl to the West Hill. I spied them in the barn there, and guessed they were taking a break. Excellent. I finally crawled up to them, and started hearing them on direct. One of them said he was going to relog (to replenish his magazines), and I prepared. When I saw the message, I darted in and shot the other in the chest with the AKM. He logged. Frustrated, I got the SUV and came back.I left the AKM there as a distraction outside for Demon (and Ethan, they would come in together) I took the SUV, went out a couple of hundred meters and waited. Sure enough, they came back after ten minutes. One sprinted to the AKM, did a dolphin-dive thing, and in that instant I took the shot and nicked him in the face. He died. The other one bolted. Bugger! I saw him run away, and I swore. He went East. I typed coldly in side "One does not enter the spider's web unless they are sure the spider has left." I told them of my observation of their direct conversations, and they called me a hacker. I took the SUV to the barn, and looted the corpse and stored the surplus in the SUV. I Left it there, and followed his path. He wasn't in town, because there was no crazy zombies. And he had definitely run east, so I assumed he was somewhere... east. Suddenly, a burst of automatic fire spattered the ground - ten meters below me. He must have been on the North hill. There was movement, and more fire hit the area around me. 5 meters up from my position. I found the source, zeroed roughly, and ended his pitiful logging life. I took the SUV up there, promptly looted the corpse (which had the CZ550 - why the hell wouldn't you use a sniper rifle at that range!) They called me hackers the rest of the day.

Lesson Number 1: Do not try and log out to a dedicated hunter, then log back in ten minutes after. Seriously! I don't know, go watch Jurassic Park or something, and THEN come back, together. Or even better, leave for the rest of the day! God!

Lesson Number 2: Use a long ranged rifle for your long ranged engagements.

Lesson Number 3: Don't call the person who legitimately deceived you, then legitimately stalked you using your direct communications, then found you because you sprinted around when you changed positions, a hacker!

I never was mutch of a Bandit. I prefered to survive or go hero. Though, months as a hero had tought me enough on how to take out other players. You learn realy fast that playing a hero, you should never go with your best gear on you. When you do that to help another player. Normaly they will say "Thanks for the help" Then shoot you for your sweet gear.

I used to camp the NW air field with a M16 ACOG. Being as I wasn't about murdering players I went there to shoot at server hoppers. You know, those players who get all the cool loot from one server, then switch servers and loot the same place on the map on a fresh sever. The place I would sit at the airfield was 650 meters out from the Firestation and the tower was close enough to not need much of an adjustment. Using an ACOG, you had to aim even murther down the line from the indicated 600 meter mark. Normaly I just shot at players and watched them log out. Most didn't want a confrontation. Every once and a while I would get a player who wanted thier revenge. As I was using an ACOG, a head shot from 300 meters away is pretty easy. I only resorted to that if they were hunting me down. I didn't survive all the time, as Ghosting was a real issue. The guy would log out, I would think I was safe and wouldn't move from my spot, then they would log in behind me and shoot me.

Any ways, my favorate sniper shot was with the ACOG from that same spot into the fire tower. Since I had done that for months I had leanred the weapons ranging and time for leading a target at that range for those particular buildings. I was sitting with another player one day and just BSing as I was watching for server hoppers. He had his Binos out and watching the area as well. He didn't have a sniper rifle and I had told him I could do some nice shots with a ACOG. Some time later, a server hopper had logged in at the top of the ACT, did his looting and then moved his way to the fire tower. Being as I was trying to show off with the ACOG, my professed favorate weapon, and my reason for not carring a second sniper rifle around in my bag. I wanted to show him something.

The Target had moved up the three floors quickly and was being realy smart not to stay in one spot to long. At this point I figured the player had been doing this for a long time. So lined up my shot for the 2nd floor window, right at the stairs hald way mark. I watched the player drop from the 4th floor down the stairs to the 3rd floor, then from the 3rd floor down to the 2nd floor. He was wantiing out of the tower, he didn't even break his pace. I pulled the trigger timing it just as he started down the stairs. Half way down the stairs the players falls over and the kill message comes up. Head shot from 650 meters with a ACOG. The guy who watched me do it at that point spent the rest of the week making me seem better then I was to the rest of the server locals.

Nice, a good ACOG story. Treasure your treasure son, for it may not remain with you for long. Hunters prowl in the night; and just as you take out another server hopper, I shall congratulate you on side, and then promptly shoot you from the OTHER side of the airfield with my professional M40a3. And I shall feast off your corpse...

But seriously mate, ACOG skills should be admired. It's a beautiful scope, and it has never failed me. At night though, you need to go pro and get a FN-FAL AN/PVS14.
