Killed my second man yesterday...felt guilty after

Recommended Posts

So I was playing dayZ yesterday (unarmed as I was a fresh spawn), I located myself a double barelled shotgun in a barn and it became night time so I was hanging around in it. Suddenly I hear my bad opening and out of instinct I turn and I blas the guy with 2 pullet rounds seeing him run away I thought he got some of my gear so I loaded in slugs took aim, and killed him with one more blast. I run over to him knowing players would of heard it nearby and turns out he took only magazines for a gun I didn't have. Even though he stole from me he was completely unarmed and could of grabbed my pistol but he didn't I felt guilty and so I buried his body (he didn't have any equipment other than mine and 2 pellet rounds I took). To the freshspawn who trid to take something from me, I would of helped if you asked you reached into my backpack and scared me so I shot you.

Sorry ;_;

You did nothing wrong. That sneaky bastard...

your sig makes me laugh every time I see it,

The guy could of done worse, he could of grabbed my makarov (hahah) and shoot me int he back of the head (which wouldn't be as funny because it one hits on the head if I remember correctly). I would of helped him if he asked, but now I feel like a bandit for turning and shooting him ;_;.

You arnt a bandit. He stole from you and thus he was a thief. He coulda come out and asked if you had anything to trade, but he didnt. Its his own fault. You didnt do anything wrong. I would have done the same... That or ran away like a little girl since Im such a pussycat.

I dont recall ever killing anyone personally. Id rather die with my dignity than kill someone else in a mistake or accident. Seems like you are kinda similar in mentality :) Dont feel bad. Really.

If you had the makarov equipped, then he couldn't have taken it :)

As of yet i haven't killed a single person, so the guilt trip hasn't been experienced by me yet,not a feeling i want but i know it's coming.

as for you OP don't feel guilty in that instance why? because he was stealing from you, direct chat he could have asked for something or a swap/trade.

Haha cool story :) and indeed, don't feel bad about shooting a thief. On the other hand, gotta give the thief a bit of credit as well for sneaking up on you and nicking stuff out of your backpack :D :D

Only time I felt bad was when me and my mate snipered a dude @ nighttime because we thought he had nvgs on him... closer up inspection showed it was his cap I saw from 750meters away :(

All in the game :)

I didn't have it equipped that was the funny part my mentality is "flashlight is better than a makarov because the flashlight does its job well".

He didn't sneak up as much until he opened my backpack and then I turned and got surprised. The only reason why he snuck up was I took my headset off and if I wasn't to have put it on 2 seconds after he snuck up I wouldn't of heard my backpack open and he would of gotten away with it XD

I killed a player outside of Stary Sobor once by blasting him in the back of the head with a shotgun. I felt really bad until I saw he had a CZ550 and appeared to be taking up a sniper position. I probably saved a lot of lives that day.

Getting your first kill is like losing your viriginity. Its all a rush, and the excitement overwhelms you. After that you get a boost in ego and some lingering guilt. By the second time however, its become apparent that you're now either lucky or a serious man whore. In this case, you're either an innocent survivor put in a bad situation or a greedy bastard.

Feeling bad for playing a video game the way it is meant to be played?

Maybe you should play a game that doesn't have any confrontations, like tetras.

Trust me, mate. That isn't going to be the last kill.

Now, for your next kill, take your trusty hatchet and slam it over the head of a pesky sniper. You will feel gratitude after that...

Its called empathy,

its one of the things that makes this mod so great, we have here a game that can make people value their characters survival so much that they even feel bad for ending some complete strangers character because they realise that the other guy was probably in the same boat, just trying to survive.

Thats something to be appreciated not derided.

No offense, but i feel sorry for people who completely miss out on this aspect of the game.

Dont feel bad man. I killed someone before since he looked dangerous. Other than that I cried when I killed my friend by accident ;_; I shot him with my m107..

In an ideal server no-one would need to shoot each other.

Unfortunately zombies are not the biggest concern to you. Greed is :)

I started playing Namalsk recently, and when I spawned in, some German guy with a bad english accent was shouting in direct chat that he wanted to kill me with his axe.

Even though I clearly told him I was a new spawn and of no value to him he kept following me with a blood hungry tone in his voice.

After trying to calm him down whilst I was running away land inwards, I felt this was a good time to use some proper swearing and shouting myself.

While I had nothing in my hands but merely a box of painkillers in my inventory I ran and ran, through woods and over hills, and I kept gaining distance over him.

Then I saw it, a military guard tower, you know.. one of those big ones. Seeing there was about 200 meters between us I decided to take the gamble...

I ran up the tower, all the way to the top, to find myself a newspawned AKM with 3 mags.

As he was shouting and swearing in his mother language downstairs, I heard him coming up...

But this time I was prepared,

He ran up, and the moment he saw me sitting there waiting for him, I heard the sound of regret and fear in his voice.

The perfect moment for a Arnold Swarzenegger impression.. "Hasta la Vista, Baby,, As I filled him up with lead.
