What I want to see in the standalone

This is not my suggestions, just what I'm hoping to see in the standalone game. Even if most of these don't make it, I'll still buy the game. Please forgive me if its jumbled but it won't let me use enter on the post maker. First of all, I'm hoping that there will be separate spawns for both Utes and Chernarus. This would separate players a bit and give the 150 players a tiny bit more breathing room. I want to see less Western military weapons and more guns typical to Eastern Europe, with a big focus on AK variants. I'd also love to see Rocket outsource weapons from community mods, such as ACE and the RH series weapon packs. I'm also hoping that most of the current sniper rifles are removed, and that loot spawns will be handled by the server owner. And last but not least, dogs. It gets lonely for us lone wolves you know :P

It would be a bit harsh to spawn on Utes and have to swim but i suppose that's the luck of the draw.

Utes should have its own loot, right? There are plenty of military structures and a few houses. Players on Utes may have better weapons but would have more trouble finding food, so they'd have to take annual trips to the mainland by either swimming or by boat.

personally what i want in the standalone is a HUGE reduction in the amount of weapons that are lying around. if weapons like AK-47's and the like were as rare as AS50's are now, and military grade weapons were much, much rarer, it would make the game feel alot more like a personal story because each life would be so different. and seeing a guy with an AK-47 would make you crap your pants, instead of getting sniped by some guy a kilometer away with an M107 and ghillie suit. basically i want the game to feel alot less like a military shooter and more like a survival horror. obviously with the ARMA 2 engine that is no easy task but that's really what i want to see.

I remember when i first found an AKM and i thought (and still do to a point) it was the best gun ever.

Yeah 2017 is a bit like that as well, though possibly a bit too extreme.

The AKM is still my favorite assault rifle. It can be zeroed, has fairly good accuracy, and the highest damage among the assault rifles. Shure, it doesn't have a fancy red dot sight or scope, but it does its job well and its ammo can be found anywhere and everywhere.

I want to see the 50 or so most vocal retards play on their own server so the rest of us can enjoy DayZ. With fun weapons. And unicorns. Maybe ponies.

Truth is the game will need to be handled at the server level like it was originally, no custom loadouts, no hacked in weapons.

I'd like to see them just add in a mega zed or 3 that you NEED something with some punch to kill. Make the ammo for high powered weapons rare enough that you would want to save your M107 ammo for that fucking big ass zed instead of burning it on some dude running up to NWAF.

Have it drop something good with limited use, like the gauss rifle with only 3 shots or something...makes it worth it to kill but would not screw over game balance.

We all have our opinions on what would make it epic...it will be interesting to see where they actually take it.

i'm against the idea of big, military guns, but having a big zed/boss style zed would certainly spice things up. make people work together more aswell. and i'm all for the promotion of positive player interaction. at the moment it seems the easiest and most simple way of playing dayZ is to just kill everyone you see. if there were the risk of a huge boss attack, players might think twice before blowing each other away, and think, 'this guy could help me, so no need to shoot on sight'. at the moment the game is about PVP because the zombies are not a threat at all. the game should be players vs zombies with the added risk of a player being an asshole, not shoot everyone you see because 95% if the time they are an asshole who's just gonna shoot you. you become the asshole.

This. As50s and m107s need to be completely removed from the game or make them so rare to the point where only in like a hundred thousand would have it.

I want to see more hunting rifles and as you stated, make military grade weapons as rare as as50s.

I concur. I remember it being much more fun when everything seemed to be far rarer. If you brought an AS50 to a gunfigh you were considered a God.

If there is going to be less military gear then there definitely needs to be many more civilian weapons, and I mean many many more civilian weapons. I'd like handguns to actually be of worth.

They are going to use the Take on Helicopters engine. Not the ArmA 2 engine.

It's a big melting-pot engine, not just ToH. It's kind of a cross between ToH and RV3 with a lot of assets back-ported from ARMA 3 and a lot of it's own. I'd call it it's own engine TBH, it's not similar enough to any others to call it a modified x engine.

I remember being crushed to death trying to board the Rify shipwreck from my PBX boat. A wave squeezed me between the wreck and the boat and I saw my death body sink to the bottom of the ocean, weighed down by my silenced pistol, silenced rifle and my full Coyote backpack. I respawned without weapons and after 20 minutes, I found a Lee Endfield with 10 rounds and thought right now this Enfield is agift from the gods.

I'm looking forward to finding regular "bad" weapons and being thrilled about it.

Hm, since my last post didn't really contribute. Make good gear hard to find, its always annoyed me that after 20 minutes I can come running outta Cherno/Elektro with an M16 w/M203, a coyote pack, the whole nine yards with the tools, after the world has ended. This shit would be scarce since we're a bit tardy to the loot and pillage game here in Chernarus.

First of all, carrying an M107 around killing people? wat. That gun weighs a whole lot, and the recoil is a 'tad bit' high.

I say completely remove it or add limitations. Eg. You'd have to get down and set it in position before firing, such as deploying a bipod, or it would be rather hard to achieve an accurate shot.
