New map for DayZ: SA?

I just think a completely new map for DayZ SA would be great, no one knows where they are, they don't know where the choppers and military loot is at no one knows everything and that encourages people to team up and maybe not kill on sight B)

What do you think?

As ^ said Chernarus is the map they are sticking with. However they have said that they want to add other maps in the future.

Rocket is using our beloved Chernarus. But he will be changing. Adding places and changing the towns and cities.

I really hope he'll be addin lots more new stuff by expanding the map north and west!

They are adding new towns, a swamp, expanding the map and even added UTES on the south east coast. I am sure they are going to change the vehicle and loot spawns as well.

He has expressed interest in a large Western-style city map after finishing with Chernarus.

"Western" like North American city or "western" like dusty ole desert town with tumbleweed?

Believe it when they say the Chernarus Plus map will be a completely different experience for SA.

Not only are most of the buildings enterable now but new areas are being added, old areas being revamped - as well as Utes.

Loot spawning is completely different now so it should be a whole new world to explore, even though some things will still be familiar.

Wait, are servers going to become separated over players who live on Chernarus and players who live on Utes? Utes may not be huge, but it shure ain't a small map. I might even move there myself, see if I can clear out all the zombies and make it a safe zone. Anyone else share similar plans?

Until a week later, by the time the hardcore players have already got an AS50 and have made reviews/guides/tips/whatever videos and uploaded them to youtube.

I'd like to see official servers provide some Seattle-New York-BOSWASH esque map, that's more city than rural area. Zombies are a bigger threat and loot would have a much lower weapon-to-building ratio.

Utes is going to be an island off the coast of Chernarus, if I know what I'm talking about.

i hope the map is mixed up a bit overwise everyone that has played the mod wont be as interested in exploring.

Utes is part of Chernarus Plus. At the moment it is a long swim but i've been there.

Capacity testing atm.

The point is: Chernarus Plus will be familiar to all but have enough new and modified content to make exploration viable again. The Dev blogs show some of this including the addition of Utes.

all you guys who think the "new" Cherna map will be intersting for more then 2 weeks are fooling yourself.

theres NO way a improved Cherna map is going to keep DayZ vets happy, when you consider people have been playing it for well over a year and not to mention all the addon maps that will cease to be options when SA drops.

frankly i have no doubt people will be asking for a new map ASAP, when dayz SA drops. you can bank that.

Chernarus, even a modified one is simply played the hell out..it just is..

Of course people want new maps. It would have been great to have a completely new map.

I think the reason Chernarus was decided upon was it would have taken too much time to create a new map from scratch - some of the community maps were two years in the making.

I am sure a new dev blog will be out soon. Hopefully the Devs discuss this and much more.

But i would hope that if the Devs are aiming for 150 players then they should be able to attain that number. 150 players is a lot though don't you think? 50 always seems so full - so 3x's that may seem like the London Underground at peak time.

I still prefer Chernarus over all of the other maps by a country mile and it still is the most played map far and above the others on commander :) I am really not too excited for a more urban focused map, interesting for sure but i prefer the open spaces and the forest enviroment with scattered towns and villages.

I think the fact that most buildings are getting interiors will breath new life into Chernarus. Sure, we might have run around that map for nearly a year (or more if you played Arma2). But, with the new interiors, all the small villages that were nothing more than an obstacle in your way become an interesting place to explore or hide out. Not to mention the routine people get into, the spots people get used to being shot from, it all gets turned upside down. Wait until you get shot from a window of a crappy little house you never took a second glance at. Or that shack in the middle of nowhere that now has a precious can of beans.

It might not give me that lost in the wilderness feeling I got when I first started learning the map, but it's certainly not going to be boring after two weeks. I've spent close to 10 months on Chernarus and I'm still finding places I'm not familiar with.

I always preferred Chenarus over any other map, played hundreds of hours and still never got bored. Only reason I dont play these days is because there is no protection against hackers. Also I dont like private hive custom 200+ vehicle spawn servers, I stick with main hive
