Use the ARMA 3 default stance system for standalone.

Recommended Posts

This system for standalone which forces your player to always have his gun down is too much, yes it may stop shoot on sight but they are some issues. One of my main concerns are if two players encounter eachother and one has the gun down the other has it up, the player with the gun down will most likely be dead before he can raise his weapon. So basically the person who has the gun up first in an encounter has a huge advantage over the other player. I personally think players shouldn't be forced to be more friendly as rocket said he they didn't want to force a certain type of gameplay.

What's stopping you from keeping it raised all the time then?

At the moment it's the other way around, you can lower your weapon if you want to but it's up by default. I lower it myself when I'm moving in stealth-mode

Also, the situation you described might as well play out differently. Since it takes time to raise the gun, the one with the raised gun could also warn the other not to raise it.

Hello there

What does stance have to do with using the A3 engine? Confuzzled....

Well if a player has their gun down, its their fault. All you need to do is click your LMB and your gun will raise.

Sorry but I should have put system instead of engine in the topic title.

Fixed :P

Not lmb that is to aim your weapon,in this certain system your gun is always down unless you hold down the space bar.

I'd imagine they'd still add hip-firing when you press the LMB without pressing space first.

i think the idea behind it was that it would help stop the kill-on-sight mentality, which i am all for. i think it could work. the gripe i have with the arma 3 overhaul is that the character runs about like they've spent 10 years training in the military. i prefer it in arma 2 where they casually hold the gun, not like some SAS soldier. these are just normal people, trying to survive, not militants.

My only problem with it is that the person who gets their gun up first will most likely win the firefight.

Yes, usually that's the case with guns. Prepare accordingly.

This will just make player skill and caution all the more important, not just gear.

A having to press a button feature doesn't change ones mind...

Just who thinks this? Really??? I can't belive anybody could be so naive to think this will stop the kos. ROFL LMAO!

So instead of maybe having to press one button they might have to press two...this does not change their mindset in any way so if they were going to kos you before said change they will still do it after said change.

Yeah I don't think the point is to stop people from Kosing but more for that moment when you see someone and ate trying to make contact with them but both of you are pointing your gun straight at each other. It makes things very uneasy when both players are trying to look/speak to each other and it looks like they might kill you any moment.

Before you tell me about double tapping control...I am fully aware of that but it seems like most of the player base doesn't know about it or they simply don't use it.
