SuperFjord 1 Posted April 4, 2013 (Search bar gave me nothing.)So, how would you like to actually be a person in the apocalypse, not only a washed up army bloke on a beach?Considering everyone is called "survivors," wouldn't it only be logical that there would be policemen, farmers, doctors and mechanics walking around too? Think 'The Walking Dead' on this. There's a slim chance of your character spawning at a different place (along the coast?) with a different skin, with other items in your inventory. With that, you could also have short backstories/tutorials using the instancing mechanic they most likely are going to implement in the SA. Like a policeman waking up at a hospital and have to find your way out. (Rick from TWD)Default loadout when spawning is painkillers, a bandage, a coyote backpack and a flashlight.Cop - Revolver (no ammo), no bagDoctor - BloodbagNurse - MorphineMechanic - CrowbarOf course, there could be alot more of these. Just my two cents.
Heathcz 84 Posted April 4, 2013 Had this idea, like some kind of role-playing from the start, and would really like to see this in dayz.
Sourcarrot 27 Posted April 4, 2013 I think the skins are a good idea but people would just end up killing them selves to get good items not only good spawns
Zarniwoop 1193 Posted April 4, 2013 Had this idea too myself but turned it down. Its a tad too gamey for my tastes. Like a sort of tutorial in any MMO out there telling you to do stuff so you can start playing again. Since in DayZ you tend to die often what you are suggesting would just be a nuissance that could lead to people dieing on purpose just to not do the sequence.I think its fine as it is, and anyway in SA i should think you would start with even less stuff.

Velvet Remedy 11 Posted April 5, 2013 Different skins, yes. My favorite thing about origins is while your face remains the same you have a good chance at a different skin every time you spawn or become a higher level hero/bandit.Different load-outs might be nice. Each load-out would have to be similar enough that there's no reason to suicide to get the best one, yet there's enough diversity for it to be worth implementing the feature. King Tubbs 224 Posted April 5, 2013 rocket has looked at that and has said that he dose not want to push people in a directionand by the looks of it staring with a backpack will prob go in the standaloneplus skins would give an advantage with the new clothes system
Clumzy (DayZ) 377 Posted April 5, 2013 How I think the starter loadout should work:-You spawn with random clothing-You spawn with nothing by default, but small chance of random items that a normal civilian would have: -Watch -Plastic water bottle -Very small chance of a civilian backpack or other storage device -Cellphone, can be used for taking photos or distractions. And stuff like that. Nobody should exxpect to spawn with a military backpack, painkillers, bandages and a flashlight, but it's not reasonable to think that you would spawn with nothing useful whatsoever.
Mos1ey 6301 Posted April 5, 2013 I think everyone should just spawn with random clothing and no items or backpack in the standalone TBH. Spawning as a mechanic who can perform blood transfusions or a doctor who can repair helicopters just seems a bit odd.
DemonGroover 8836 Posted April 6, 2013 I like the idea of finding a cop outfit etc and being able to put it on but that's as far as i would like.If someone wants to be a doctor, mechanic etc then it is up to them.

LancerG2 369 Posted April 9, 2013 Why not like just saint's row style charecter customisation. Not insanely unrealistic this the video shows but adleast the ability to make your own charecter would be cool. The HORROR. MY EYES!
