Killed by Zombies???

When the last time anyone got killed by a zombie? seriously?

shooting zeds is like putting down a retarded 3 legged dog, yeah you can do it, but not exactly a challenge.

Even before the zeds were slowed down they have become an irrelevant backdrop, with no consequence to game play what so ever as all you have to do is run a few feet to loose them.

who ever is sitting on the current dev team and thought that previous zeds were too hard and needed slowing down needs to sit down in front of the game and play abit.

They need to be made harder, faster, stronger.

Dayz started by changing ARMA2 into something totally different,. now in the hands of you half wits, you've turned it back into ARMA2. well done.

i propose changing the name to 'Day-(arma2 but with some zombie looking characters running around causing lag but with no real effect on game play)-Z'

It was actually the community's incessant QQ that led to the zombies being nerfed in the first place. xD

I agree, they need to be buffed and harder to shake once they're aggro'd.

When i have my "endgame" status i either go to another server and start over or i go to the nearest city and start the zombie slaughter and sometimes i an un expected zombie knocks me out and the horde mauls me or i run out of ammo and escape.

man I could swear and abuse that fact but nah. done an almost all swear post 40 words in total. on another forum of course didn't work out well for me and am no longer that dick. basically talking the Z out of the game in my opinion.

This will be fixed very much in the SA. Not only will zombies run in buildings, but the tracking will be much better. That means that the zombies won't have to be crazy fast because they will follow much better.

I'm sorry but I'm not talking about the SA, mainly because i don't play it. i play the mod, and the mod sucks balls atm, any talk about the SA is irrelevant as none of us can/have played it. and to assume it will be 'fixed' without any experience with it seems very presumptuous.

the fact is zeds on the MOD are far too easy, this could be fixed very easily, however it is not, and that annoys me

the community has always QQ'd about such things, the Dev team did'nt have to listen to them. there is no money in this mod, so why sell themselves out.

To put it simply there cowards. its wasn't done for money, or game play, but for the sole purpose to keep the masses happy, shit guys, go and work for EA or something

Actually there are mods for DayZ out there that make the Infected harder to fight, like DayZ+ for example. 4-5 hits and you're dead.

I've played DayZ Origins lately and the zombies needed around 10 AK bullets to the chest to go down. A bullet to the head was still a one hit kill though so you needed to aim for the head.

Try dayz+, the zombies there do 1500 instead of 250 blood damage, it doesn't help with the speed and tracking but it means that they can kill you in a few hits if they knock you out

Not perfect I know, but a step In the right direction

Because the "dev team" is no longer running the show. The community is developing the mod and the dev team is developing the SA. As far as assuming it will be fixed, do you watch and read the devblogs? There was a video update which a portion of that addressed this exact issue.

the point i was trying to make was that i'm playing and commenting on the mod, to which this website and forum is for, ergo commenting about the stand alone is irrelevant.

And there is a 'dev' team for the mod, yes a community one, but a select amount of people none the less, and those people, not the community and accountable for this mess

and yes i do watch the SA update,. but again,. they have nothing to do with this mod, like you say the original team is making the SA, however its not the 'community' that is making this mod now, but a 'community mod team' of a few people.

the way you put it is like everyone who plays gets to input, whereas its a select few people

Actually, you ought to try Taviana.eu 1.5.1. The zombies can only die from headshots, and they are much faster than either 1.7.4.4 or 1.7.6.1 zombies. Try to backpedal and shoot them, and instead of duping them into swinging at you so you have a second to shoot, they actually advance forward again and hit you. Almost every time they hit you, you bleed and they communicate very effectively. I don't know what exactly the dazyland devs did to enhance the zombie behavior, but I really like it. Sadly, recent word from Hawaii Samurai over at dazyland was that he did not know if there would be further updates, and there are only about 55 servers left running Taviana.eu.

My problem with Taviana is that is a level, not a map.

it looks like it was made by some teenager who plays far to many arena based FPS's.

It has no atmosphere, no style, no depth, it is by far the most terrible excuse ive seen for a 'map' (level), reminds me of a halo map or a similar unimagnitive design.

I was killed by a zombie just last week. I'll tell my story: I was casually walking up to the Balota Airfield, carefully listening for zeds, getting ready to go around the corner into a hangar. THEN the sounds of an aggro'd zombie pops into my headphones, rushes only a step and begins slapping me. Admittedly, I was a little startled, and I began to unload my pistol. I was never fully aware that a zed could just knock you out, And I'm fairly sure I was at full health, but it made cinimatic sense for my character to have a fright and fire his weapon wildly and then black out.

[Here's some TL;DR text!]

The fun part was getting back to my body... I spawned in Solichniy. It's 1 AM when this happens and I'm tired, but I'm not letting my hard earned kit get away that easily. I run for maybe a half hour making sure to keep my left shoulder towards the ocean, only ever stopping to get a can of soda. I make it to Cherno and it's getting dark. Luckily I find a body well geared, but I spend only a few seconds taking an AK and some coke and beans: I've got my priorities here. The sun is setting quickly. On the other side of the city, west side near the gas station, I spot a player on the road. Mind you, I'm up in the hills and trees trying not to get spotted. He's on his way to the airfield. Bad news for me... Mild panic sets in and I contemplate killing this man. But I don't waste a single bullet, I turn and run. Then I finally make it to the hangars, and it's dark now, the sun has fully set. I begin making my way up the side of the hangar when I hear an odd sound: Footsteps. Player footsteps. Then an aggro'd zed! I immediatly freeze and before I know it two zombies run past me and into the opposite hangar. I see a flash light flick on and wave around towards the zombies, then the gun fires. My only chance! I run at my body and frantically start swaping gear. Mission success, and I haul ass out of there. I don't think he ever knew I was there, cause when I full on sprinted out of there I could see the player's light spinning around trying to find me.

yeah, i normally do that right after getting an M249 or when i am really bored,

really fun especially if done in the pub buildings, where the horde pushes you back further and further until you run out of ammo or get eaten

I think it was the patch before last where the zombies got hearing and sight buffs and players complained about it being too hard to escape zombies.

I cant wait for Standalone to rip those wusses a new one.

It is pretty damn hard to lose them. Ain't nobody got time to run to the nearest tree. When you're killed by a zombie in a zombie survival game, you know the fuckers need to be nerfed, and fast.
