DAYZ:SA Zombies becoming real threat - ideas

Recommended Posts

So here is my list what u think guys. Be free to add yours.

1# Only headshots can kill a zombie other then that slows thier movement or have a chance % to knock them back.

2# Different type of zombies e.g screamer who alerts the rest of dead.

3# Walkers- packs of zombies ( 50 ) which may walk across the whole map following/tracking animals if they find a player they come after him if they lose him they are back to original track.

Those changes could make game more difficult and force player to think before he gonna shot another living being.

sry for my eng i know its not perfect. :)

omg look in to the stand anlone

1 no

2 no

3 gonna happen

zomies ARE going to be a threat in SA because there will be loads of them that will track you properly because there patfinding will be fixed

there is no need for poor ass unrealistic L4D style zombies of land of the dead headshot only

there are alot of vids and devblogs that tell you this and all you have to do is watch 1 of them to know this

There's supposed to be like 4,000ish zombies per restart? And so it makes clearing places likely.

Sorry, but the no headshot/instant kill is completely bs IMHO. This is the #1 classic zombies rule. Brain trauma = dead zombie. Severed or damaged body parts can slow them down, but it doesn't kill them. That simple change would give a whole new perspective to the game.

We have 225 km^2 terrain and 4000 zombies so its like in average a=17 zombies on 1 km^2 so I presume in city zones there will be like 5 * a not a big deal even with propper path finding but time will show it .Headshot only is not unrealistic cuz zombies are not real mate ; ) but i hope they will do some kind of weekend event in alpha to test it out maybe community will like it. Who knows.

I just think its stupid to see people going Commando and taking down an undead horde shooting nothing but their foot :/

Zombies are fictional characters, of course, but there's a whole concept and set of rules behind them. This isnt some random shit like arcade L4D zombies or Twilight vampires.

-make them run indoors

-make them able to sprint

-make them able to grab hold of players

-make them do more damage

-give them better pathfinding

-make them spot players from further away

-make players who've been running for miles slow down from fatigue

-introduce better wounding system so you have to hit them in the right places

I like it but is to simple. Let say 10 % of whole population of zombies have ability to scream loud which attracts zombies from further distances. Think of it. its adding game more fun and thrill at the same time and the proper sound makes you a little bit scary in the game. cheers

I like the first and third suggestions. Special zombies are kind of lame.

edit: oh, for the SA? Only number 3 then.

People seem averse to including different types of zombies. Maybe any zombie could have a chance of screaming, or perhaps every single zombie could start shrieking. The little grunting noises aren't all that scary...

Oooohhh hmmmmofff grrrr are definitely not scary lol

The thing is there are no different types of zombies, not in a sense of "super powers" or "unique actions". They have basic brain/body functions and an almost unstoppable urge for flesh. That's it. In large numbers they can pose real threat. No need to add other 'new features' to their behaviour (other than some of Gews suggestions like path finding, fatigue, damage, etc).

I'd love to have different looks: short, tall, skinny, fat, male/female, old, children \m/

I think they can add unigue action like grab or scream with % chance to happen those fit great in dayz realism and are not far-fetched.

They are not zs, they are infected. Been told like a milion times all over. Under this perspective, screemers sounds good, for even rabies infected animals show different levels of brain function. Voodooator's right though, if screemers have their own skin, they will be peaked off first from afar. Instead, having a chance for every infected to be one sounds more interesting.

Make them run indoors and make the zombies do running attacks. That's about it. You run trough Cherno: You're fucked.

And just remember, they will use the 3-state thingy, so the zombies will only get alerted once they hear sounds. After they see you, they will run.

If they're not zombies, The Z in DayZ stands for...?

Yeah guys, what DOES the Z stand for?

Stands for zombie, of course, which means "a hypnotized person bereft of consciousness and self-awareness, yet ambulant and able to respond to surrounding stimuli".

Undead doesn't equal zombie (pedantism for the win!)

Why not just give this ability to all of the zombies infected? To balance this out make the zombies only react to you if you get very close to them, or when you are running when they spot you. Essentially the lore would be, that the infected are made more aggressive by the virus and therefore react to any sudden movements and loud noises.

This.

Zombies were first depicted in African/Haitian voodoo folklore as people who were raised from the dead. Turns out that the people performing voodoo rites had a slightly different definition of death than we do. Basically anyone who went into a comatose state of some sort during these rites and awakened later in a psychotic state (because of the drugs introduced into their bloodstream) were classified as a zombie They were believed in some cultures to be possessed by the spirits of the dead.

Therefore, historically zombies have existed, but they were never actually reanimated corpses.

I didn't realise this, maybe we should be able to shake them and wake em up. <_<
