SmashT 10907 Posted March 24, 2013 that saying means that the vehicles will never be implemented at all?You are thinking of another developer
Sutinen 635 Posted March 24, 2013 (edited) I haven't had many vehicles.. The uber clanz hoard them in the northern woods and I just don't think it's fun to go run in endless woods to get a car. I'd rather walk. This will also make the start of the game more adventurous, since you need to hike to your destination and explore things a long the way. liquidmind 320 Posted March 24, 2013 Don't get the problem...You want a full game? Buy it when it is released as a full game. You want to play it as early as possible? Buy it when open alpha testing starts. No matter what you prefer, the date at which this is possible wont be earlier or later in one version. They still need to develop the features. I wouldn't even mind if there weren't zombies or guns in the first release and everything just being about surviving the nature... in the end, it's the first alpha-release... Wouldn't expect there to be a lot of content. There already is more than expected due to the fact that the Client-server-model takes longer and they used that to create more... Already a lot in there. so stop complaining everybody.
willey.erd@oundleschool.org.uk 506 Posted March 24, 2013 Guys. It'll be an alpha. I never accepted that argument when this was a mod. That was a complete cop out and a shield for the fanboys to hide behind when something was broken. 'What, this is broken? IT'S AN ALPHA AND YOU SHOULDN'T EVEN MENTION PROBLEMS EVER'.But this is going to be a for-real ALPHA.Wait: you're saying that the ALPHA of a MOD isn't allowed to be broken? However, when it's a Standalone game where it has been massively altered and optimised to the degree that most of the GAME-BREAKING bugs from the Mod (which were mostly problems with ArmA 2, not the mod) then that's fine?Either way, expect bugs. More so in the Mod, even after nearly a year of work on it.
Henryllex~ 407 Posted March 24, 2013 (edited) I like no vehicles, because i like to explore all the map on foot, and i will be surely running all the cherno+ map, the only thing that i didnt like so far is the ui they have, seems like "easy" or something like thatDa hundred postz Edited March 24, 2013 by Henryllex~

Target Practice (DayZ) 1335 Posted March 24, 2013 Oh and Kerbal space programme, and prison architect, and project zomboid.I just googled Prison Architect based solely on the fact it was the only one of those three I hadn't heard of and played already. Looks interesting, although $30 for an Alpha is a bit steep for me.
Cap'n (DayZ) 1827 Posted March 24, 2013 I've posted about this before, I'm doing it again. I don't stash twenty Urals deep in the forest. I have a hatchback hidden somewhere very secret, and have managed to keep up with it for the last two weeks. I don't rely on cars all the time, and only use them if I plan to travel across a great distance or get somewhere fast. And right now, the vehicle physics and driving mechanics are fine and dandy. Why do they have to rehaul something that works and it works good at that. Just my two cents.

Instead of maintaining a factory model vehicle, you sorta hodge-podge one from many different parts from OTHER vehicles, from what I understand,

From what dean said it just sounded like customization of existing vehicles.(zombie plow, anyone? )
victusmortuus 1074 Posted March 24, 2013 It will get a bit boring just running everywhere (I do it A LOT) but when servers have no vehicles it's a bit of a disappointment if i'm honest. It's not about 'butt hurt' it's about the alpha likely getting boring.
smore98 225 Posted March 24, 2013 People seem to be missing the fact that vehicles won't be added because they are getting a complete overhaul. Surely that's a good thing no?Will take a while to implement the vehicles in-game, for sure. However, it would be a fresh of breath air to not see the [MAX VEHICLE] tag on servers for a while...
Dreygar (DayZ) 178 Posted March 24, 2013 Well, I watched that video and a thought quickly came to mind. So many people, and now with Rocket supporting, about the KOS issues. You're essentially building the player base with the release of the SA. They have the opportunity to reface Day Z away from what the Mod has done to players.., which is basically them getting bored and turning it into a multiplayer deathmatch. So lets see here.I don't think anything we've seen from the standalone will be changing the behavior of players, but giving a player less to look forward to will result in them resorting to the mod-like behavior sooner rather than later. This is my opinion of course, and we're going to have to wait and see... but just from my own experiences the game is essentially the same. Nothing really is changing. Zombies, will be different but we'll get used to them. Loot will eventually be predictable... and then what else is there? Oh right, killing one another. Not that I have a problem with it. It'll just be interesting to see what else they add for the initial release to combat the lack of content. June to August/Sept is a long time for Day Z where it really isn't that difficult to grasp how the game works in a relatively short amount of time. Probably 2-3 days if not less.
