Hello there

Yes, it's all moot now as the OP has suspended payment. So there's little point in further speculation in regard to this particular issue.

Oh yes, Steam sometimes allows *one* refund per account (which is a credit rather than a full refund) so IMHO dont waste it on Arma, keep it for a full price game. Although it may be a bit late now.

Cheated. Complains about ban. Brings up 'the law'. Yeah, standard hacking-attempt-gone-wrong here, folks, nothing to see!

Also, why is it only ever people with under ten posts and no avatar that make these complaints? Sure, you could just say that they're here because they've been banned. But why have I never seen a regular here (+200 posts, full profile) posting a 'banned-please-help-pl0x' post? Because 'accidental' Global Bans simply don't happen.

A friend of mine received a global ban the other night about 10 minutes after we all joined an official Origins server. Now I can't be 100% sure he didn't do something dodgy but I really really doubt it. He was pretty shocked. He also has not received a reply from battle eye.

Its not 'brainwashing' its called being desensitized. Posts like yours pop up routinely day in and day out 'ive been banned for absolutely nothing'. Yes we know, we've heard it all before.

Hello there

Look, BE just does not "ban for no reason" it just doesn't work that way.

Now, false positives can happen, but they are rare indeed.

There was a recent glitch with BE where there was a batch ban due to an error but that was quickly tracked down and all bans over turned. This is highly uncommon and highlighting this as a common example is inaccurate.

Almost all the people we get posting here on these subjects are either scripters or have downloaded a map/mod/optimiser with an embedded key stealer (which wont *apparently* usually be detected by usual anti virus/malware).

Check for yourself. They rant and rail how they hate hackers or don't have the knowledge but once we trace their ID's we find them posting on hack sites etc.

On the other hand when it comes to key stealers I understand this can be frustrating for the innocent, but still careless individuals who has had their key stolen.

The "rules" are harsh. But those are the rules.

Simply coming on to the board and saying "BE is Poo" or "a friend was banned and he says he doesn't cheat" just does not wash.

Lastly, there is no conspiracy to make folk re buy the game.

In an infinite universe there are an infinite amount of possibilities, so I'm not going to say BE is 100pc infallible but the chances are that it is handing out a ban for no reason is almost nil.

Oh absolute lastly, this really isn't anything to do with us as was previously stated.

It is weird that these things never happen to people around here that have been playing for a while.

Also a rare coincidence that it always seems to happen to angry and immature people. One could almost say people that would enjoy scripting.

Going off-topic here but I sure as hell wish that if there were 100% proof your Steam account would get banned and ALL the games on the account inaccessible. Forever. That would teach people to not be dicks.

People are always shocked when they're banned, also, it can take quite a while to get a response from BE due to the sheer amount of hackers they ban on a weekly basis. Also, as mentioned earlier in the thread he may have inadvertently installed malware on his machine and had his key stolen. Of course, he could just be a script kiddie too.

He may have attempted to hack, but it didn't work. They sent him a new CD-Key because of his complaining.

No, we didn't. We told him to contact BI support who gave him a new cd-key because his old one was stolen (otherwise he wouldn't have received one). His ban was never lifted because it was valid.

Anyway, Molochius, please wait for a response. You are probably another one of the thousands of cd-key theft victims.

I don't know if all these bans are false positives or not, I would assume that most of them are legit bans which is fine by me.

But to everyone that comes out and says "BattleEye does not issue false bans, if your are banned, you cheated, its impossible to have a false positive", what are are basing this on? Do you have this belief becuase BattleEyes website says that there are no false positives? Or do have more information?

No one is saying FP's do not ever happen. But they are highly unlikely.

You have none. You did not buy DayZ, you bought the Arma2 bundle. I assume you can still play Arma2...the game you actually own, and have legal rights to. Let's not also forget, in this increasingly messed up society, that you also have Legal Duties, and can be punished, by a ban, for example, if you, or somebody with access to your computer, don't fulfil them.

You should read the thread again. We all acknowledged that false positives are possible but very rare. In the the cases where that has happened BE have reversed the ban making this whole topic a tad redundant.

Oh, lord... I hope that wasn't a Steam transaction or he isn't going to have fun, lol.

Yes "LOL" we accept if we are in dispute with steam regarding a single game they will prevent access to the rest of your steam game library.

Shame that attitude should come from a fourum mod.

As for BE I think they should always give all the information they have regarding any ban to the player who has been banned.

Eg.sever where ban was applied, what cheat was used, ip of player, in game name

Game company accountants must love all the extra copies of game sold to genuine cheats and the unlucky people who are scammed out of their game.

I would like to see game company's making their products more secure but why would they when bans increase sales.

Funny isnt it that games where you play a monthly sub are far more secure and have dedicated teams to deal with security of their product.

I think you'll find that mod was referring to a refund not a ban.

oh and if this continues down the conspiracy bans=cash then I'll just lock the thread. We've heard it all before there are other games that are cash grabs, if BE were doing that then they're not doing it right.

As I understand it there's a reason that BE don't initially (but will after a period of time) release info on individual bans. That's because they ban in waves and hackers would love nothing more than to see a very specific reason for an individual ban for one of their keys so that they can continue to work around it for their next hack. In fact some hackers have so many keys they could happily get banned all day, ask BE for details on thier ban and then use that info to create workarounds for their next hack which they will then sell to make a hell of a lot of money.

Let's not mess around, it's big business and BE weren't born yesterday. Let's not get into the details of why this mod and Arma are so hard to protect from hackers, that's been covered on these forums in great detail so I'm sure you're well aware (or not) of the uphill battle they face in trying to protect legit players form scripting.

Yours is just another ill-informed post making stupid accusations based on no facts, just a keen sense of butthurt or unjustified paranoia. This is getting boring fast.
